The internet is one of the things that really kicked the swinging world in the main stream.

Can anyone remember who it worked before the internet ?

contact mags, thats how we started . i am not sure internet as inproved things made it faster but with contract mags and po boxs you had to sit down write a letter wait for replyes etc but not a single time waster or a man saying he was a couple, as you had to give your address to the po box at the mag for them to send mail onto you.

yes it would take a few weeks to meet a new couple but when you did meet you felt you aready new them a bit

London

We did a massive chapter on the history of the scene from the 1960s right through to present day in the book, covering everything from key parties, to contact mags, to ads in the back of loot to studio 54 and beyond.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I started on the phone lines. I used to speak to guys on Connections and I got my first club experiences through two lovely men met that way. The internet made it easier but I will always miss the naughty chats.

peak district

Parties, with details passed around by word of mouth amongst those 'in the know'. Had a girlfriend in the 80s who was into that scene in her home town and went with her to a couple of events. Memories of the women with 'big hair' on their heads and between their legs, ah, happy days!

I was such a bashful child... I'd spend hours browsing contact mags, picking out the potential locals (and more importantly entertaining possibilities... ), and then... never quite summon it up to ring 'em up... choosing to stalk prey down the pub instead - thank feck for tinternet

Yup grinning here at loot

We also used cinemas...though i was a lot shyer then and kev used to have to go alone.(Yes men used to chance he was telling the truth about a woman waiting at home).

When we lived abroad, gay bars and noticing the guy checking us both out,and of course that standby of the ages, radar...you get a sense of who is up for it!

Non nilla sex has always gone on.
