One for the t-girls.....

...so, I recently started working at a swingers club as barmaid and must say I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far. Nights where I've been dressed for longer than I ever had before, and managing nearly 6 hours straight in 6 inch heels.

Whilst I think I manage to achieve a fairly decent look, I've always wanted to see just how good I could look and a big upcoming event spurred me on

In a moment of what increasing seems like pure madness I messaged a local makeup artist to see if they would see me as a client. The response was quick to say the least, she'd love to have me as a client, awesome.

Only thing is this is a regular, every day, run if the mill salon. High street location, the works. Apparently all makeovers happen in a private room there but I'll clearly be walking in as male.

It seemed like a great idea when I sent the email, now the more I think of it the more nervous I get. Appointments still a couple of weeks off.

Have any t-girls done this before? How did it go?

Has a male ever gone into a beauty salon for a female treatment?

Yes.

Is it anything to be ashamed of or anxious about?

No.

Just throw those shoulders back, chin up and give it extra wiggle as you leave!

Never walked in with a male face in girl clothes but I did get a makeup match in Boots from the No7 girl in the middle of the store while dressed male. She gave my face full make up on one side to show me the difference all while shoppers walked past. Some looked horrified, some laughed and some actually complimented me.

It's the other people who have a problem, not you. Enjoy it.

I recently used a female make up artist to do my nails and make up ready for a night out. It was a little different as she cane to my hotel. It was one of the best experiences of my life made me feel like a woman. Go for it Hun you’ll not regret it x

Question for the T girls, what do you get treated like by the general public when you’re out and about dressed up, just wondering if attitudes have changed or not ?

I will be changing there, it's just one of the things I'm most afraid off is being recognised while I'm dressed, and this is an obvious transition as I'm entering male, coming out female, and I am most definitely not ready to come out.

All bar one of the key people in my vanilla life are obvious to my trans side

I'm loving hearing about other girls experiences though, thank you girls

I haven't been out in public that often. Nights out are no problem. Daytime shopping, I'm always a bit nervous. I've only ever shopped in Glasgow but I have to say it's been very friendly. At a distance, nobody gives me a second look. Face to face, I've been fortunate and I've always been treated kindly.

That said, you can never tell who you'll bump into. The closed minds are still out there in numbers; or I'd be more open about Alice.

people I know don't recognise me . in fact at a party one of my bosses chatted me up whilst I was dressed . he didn't have a clue who I was. I've met others I know not realise as well .I suppose it depends on how good a transition you can do .

It's such a shame that we still have such closed minds in this day and age.

Very well, by and large.

I am not a woman. I am me and I go out as the best me I know.

Other people know that. Some people are curious, the odd one rude, but generally no-one cares.

“Wearing women’s clothes is only something to be ashamed of if you believe being a woman is inferior to a man”

Alice Cooper or someone like that

We are full time, the reaction is very positive and women are the most friendly and love to chat. Most of the men just perve.

Settlewick!

I go out dressed up and generally don't get a second glance, and those I do get tend to be more approving than derogatory.I tend to dress fairly conservatively though when im out,for instance tights rather than stockings, subtle make-up

Funniest experience was walking the canal one day.A fisherman saw me coming, panicked and busied himself with something in the distance as I passed. On the return journey he invited me for a cup of tea lol!

Seriously - just dress and do your makeup to be as best as you can be and go there dressed.

That way the makeup artist can tell you where you can improve and you can leave with a perfectly made up face.

Just do it, don't overthink it or dwell on it or you won't do it.

It will be no big deal and you will be so happy with yourself having done it.

If you don't do it, you will kick yourself at the wasted opportunity.

Honestly, most won't notice, the rest won't care.

Largely I get accepted and welcomed just as any other woman in most social scenarios. I go about in public daytime and nighttime, I have travelled up and down the country, stayed in hotels and bed & breakfast houses. I have no doubt that anybody looking more than casually at my face will realise that I am trans, but my experience is that for many people these days it just isn't an issue.
