So, tonight we have our first meet (with a single guy) in a very long time. The anticipation is killing me and I’m now starting to feel the nerves. I know it will all be fine once we get going. Just curious as to how you all deal with the nerves beforehand?

You'll do great, just relax and enjoy yourself, like you say once you get going it will all be OK.

O ensure I only allow positive thoughts and excitement. I may do some yoga, to get me relaxed and with the right vibe. This week's needed a cold bath though, so I'd meet with energy, not drained. I also work out, so excess mental energy is used up - a walk is good too

Thats all part of the fun for us, the nervous excitement of not knowing how things will play out. Hope you enjoy ! X

I usually find that keeping myself busy helps. Just gets you out of your own head. Also a SMALL glass of wine (insert drink of choice) helps. Emphasis on the small, you dont want to be d*unk before as that definitely wont help!

Lee met him for a social first. This is my first time meeting him although we’ve been messaging for the last couple of days...

That's good at least. Doesn't stop the nerves but hopefully eases them..as soon as the first move is made and the chatting is done you'll be fine I'm sure...

Embrace the nervousness! The nerves help to build adrenaline when you do meet which should make things more enjoyable for you. I know that when I stop feeling nervous before a meet it will be time for me to leave Fab x

We usually pretend that we're just meeting an old friend. It can help with the nerves if it's 'just Dave from the pub'.

It can also help if you plan something for after the meet and then focus on that.

But generally we try and embrace the nervous energy and laugh about it together. If you are ever not nervous then it's probably a sign to give it up.

That sense of anticipation, that not quite knowing what is coming next . . . it's a thrill that never goes away.

I usually pace the house lololol

Ah I hope it went well. I've been known to pull out of a meet due to nerves which is so daft, I'm usually fine when I get there. It's only human nature to be nervous.

S xx

I tend to just pace up and down for about an hour, my wife hates it lol... The worst part for me is the initial meet, the awkwardness of introducing yourself, after that I'm fine, I talk about nonsense for hours

I'm a pacer, if my LTP is coming to me; even after 8 years.

When I'm travelling to someone new-usually by train-i'm so relieved I've got off the tube I'm glad to see them.

Definite no no' S

Drink, food, drugs or any inhibiters.

Yes yes

Breather nice and deep, relaxing bath, slow sensuous music anything that defers your thoughts about tonight. Oh and knowing whatever happens there is more life after the meet.

Love the nerves before a planned meet. The problem for me is my brain is now so conditioned to these meets being cancelled at the last minute (you know my dogs poorly, I’ve got to take my goldfish for a walk), that I’ve stopped getting nervous. I WANT THAT NERVOUS FEELING BACK!
