Hi All,

I’m just looking to find out how many of us get stood up and how often?

In the past two weeks I’ve been stood up four times..

Is this normal? Starting to dispair Haha

Seems to be happening a lot on here and other sites that are supposedly for dating. Friend of mine got a phone call from a guys wife after him saying he was single, flatmate, blah blah blah. Honesty isn't what it used to be.

After a couple of socials in Aberdeen 5 or 6 of us girls became friends and now socialise all the time sometimes even just for a coffee sometimes a night out.

One night 3 of us happened to mention getting ready for a meet. Turns out the same guy had arranged to meet all 3 around the same time so was obv going to make a last minute decision to stand 2 up. I mean WHY?? X

Yes, too many single guys have not turned up for meets recently. Even though we've talked to them earlier in the day, and they've said yes they will definitely be there.

Fantasists - the site is plagued by them.

The lack of any negative feedback method is a massive hindrance to this site.

Oh I’ve been Stood up twice (no shows) and two on route cancellations when they know it takes me at least 30 minutes to reach arranged meeting location and I’m halfway there type thing

Twice. Both times this year by people.from fab.

And I've been in and out of swinging nearly 20 years.

But bear in mind, I tend to develop long term fwbs rather then have one of meets with people I don't know well.

You can report the profile for arranging a meet and not showing. It’s one of the ‘report’ options. I don’t know what the follow up from fab admin is, but if a profile gets multiple reports I inagine it might get deleted?

When I was on here with a lady friend, we preferred to meet other couples, we were let down by loads of them.

Car broke down - they were local so I offered to pick then up but no as they had had a row and weren't in the mood any more!

Wife had a car accident coming out of work but husband is still available (shouldn't he have been helping his wife?!)

We turned up to a couples house and she was late home from work, so after an hour of waiting we left.

Going to the wrong town was a good one.

Another one was cancelled as we were five minutes away, the reason being they had run out of time, despite us being due to arrive at the agreed time.

No contact at all after arranging to meet up.

We did also get a number of genuine meets but the no shows out weighed the genuine ones by a long way sadly.

To me that is a more than acceptable reason, and you let people know, it's the various excuses minutes before the agreed time is the problem, or just not turning up is more annoying

One of the reasons I very rarely try to arrange meets on here. Rather just go to a club and see who's there.

I once arranged to meet someone at a club, she turned up with another guy, then pointed me out to him and said "that's the guy I was supposed to be meeting"

I only go to socialise, if I meet someone and we play then that's a bonus.

Stood up a few times in the past, last minute when meets have been aranged. Numerous reasons or gone to ground or just cut contact. It can be frustrating (especially when people are not honest or go silent) but I don't know what is going on in their life. At the end of the day I wouldn't want to be with anyone who wasn't 100% enthusiastic about it.

Not once. I had one man, who I knew wouldn't travel all the way to me from Kent, go quiet a couple of hours before he was supposed to be at the pub across the road from me.

I hadn't bothered getting out of my pyjamas.

Other than him, no one. I have them talking for quite some time before agreeing to meet; which sees off the ones looking for wank chat,as I don't give it to them.

Got stood up at the back end of last year. Wasn't off here though. We skyped and swapped numbers and texted/WhatsApp for a couple of weeks before we were supposed to meet. I went to the rendezvous, in contact on WhatsApp while on the way, only to be blocked on WhatsApp on arrival.

When I first joined here in 2012 I used the scatter gun approach, ended up speaking to someone for a couple of weeks only for her to pull out of a meet the day before.

Literally just got stood up, it's not even that i mind being stood up, it's the way you do it,

But in your case absolutely not normal for that many at once. You get better at spotting them i guess.

All 3 meets have turned up...

They all came to see me at mine so I wouldn’t have minded so much if they hadn’t showed. If I had to leave mine to travel and they didn’t show...I would be pissed. The two outbound meets showed as well so all in all, it’s been good, although activity isn’t often on here for me

I've had last minute meets and organised meets in advice. It's not the day time etc it's the ones who pull out last minute with no 8ntentiin of turning up in the first place....

I’ve been doing this for 10 years.... I can tell you one thing that I have learned......

Make people feel comfortable and they will meet you....

I always give my phone number and a face pic. I’m always willing to go on cam and never meet anyone without speaking to them on the phone .

Now I might have missed out on some people, that refuse to talk on the phone or webcam...

But I’m not complaining......

I think the people who refuse to give phone numbers out , tell you to meet them in a dark alley, and act like they are working with MI-6 will give people the creeps.... that is why people stand them up...

All I’m suggesting .....is if people’s way of meeting is getting too many cancellations.. try a different approach...

Twice this week!

One for a social, left for 40 minutes in a bar having messages for ages, swapped pics, agreed boundaries. Discovered I was blocked 20 mins after messaging I was there.

Yesterday - Chatted on here, moved to KIK, arranged meet, given close directions for location, took half day holiday at short notice set off messaging I had left and would be 15mins.......yep blocked!

Both were couples! - It’s not just the tarred with the same brush guys

I had a bad one a few weeks ago. I’d been chatting to a lady a while. We arranged to meet. She picked the pub even sent me the menus. We were chatting via kik on the afternoon of the meet. She was giving me info on parking as the village had an event on and parking was problematic. In the time it took me to go upstairs to get a shower and changed she sent me a “dear John” message.

Quite pathetic really. We should be able to name and Shane. A complete waste of my time.

Agreed... having being someone that pulled out of a meet as per my thread bottles it.... it’s about respect for the other person. I bricked it but let her know days in advance and explained my reasoning but understood if I looked like a timewaster which wasn’t my intention. So as I say - if you’re not going to turn up which is ok... show the other person respect and honesty. My experience has meant I’ve kept in touch and hopefully one day when I locate my balls we will meet. Just turning up is without explanation is a bit cowardly in my book!

Last Thursday. Myself and my other half drove 40 miles round trip to meet a couple.in a pub for a birthday dinner. His birthday treat??. They never turned up. I wrote to them a message, saying that we were there for them??? also phoned them,'no answer'. Then they blocked us. How rude. Stay happy xx

Mostly, most vanish as soon as it comes to suggesting a "when" date.

We met one single guy for a social, arranged to meet to play the next week, chatting to day before when asked and we gave our address. Then nothing... So we had an evening wasted, not knowing if they'd turn up, and the f***er knows where we live. Won't give out address now.

We have gone to a social meet, twice, and ended up in the wrong pub wondering where they were

Fortunately close enough to correct pub to be late.

And we had a a social in one pub where the people we met went up to another couple and said "are you _achelnmark" - and the other couple said yes

I’ve been dipping in and out of this since 2003 and have only bee stood up ONCE!!! And that was the other week where she just vanished hours before a meet. I always give unverified the benefit of the doubt and it’s always come good, but will think twice now

We all get a stood up I think.

I have had about 15 meets. I think I first joined Fab in 2006. I have never been stood up.

I think the reason I have never been stood up is I always spend a lot of time getting to know somebody before I meet them. Doing that lets you find out if the woman or couple are idiots, dangerous, fantasists, or timewasters.

Spend a long time getting to know people before you arrange a meet. You will then also get rid of the single guys who don't respect you and just want a quick one off shag so they can put another notch on their bedpost.

I know I am going to have the forum trolls say I am trying to be a white night in shining armour for what I am about to say. However, I think you are a very sexy woman. The men who stood you up are fools.

Choose your potential meets more carefully.

I think some men like the idea of swinging but when they get a chance to meet they bottle it. They get scared.

I also think some men who claim to be single will arrange a meet with you but then somehow the wife or girlfriend gets in the way of them meeting you.

You can give negative feedback. You can report them for being a no show.

A name and shame sytem is open to abuse. What if maliciously I got all my Fab friends over a few weeks to report you two as a no show? You would falsley get a timewaster reputation and it wouldn't be true. Your no show reputation would be based on lies.

Before you arrange a meet do you get them to prove they are real?

A lot of single men on here open up couples profiles. They hope on the day of the meet they can bullshit you and say some excuse like the wife's mum has taken ill. She has gone to her mums but I can still meet.

Before you meet a couple or single man first insist on having a Skype video chat or other video chat to prove they are real. The single men pretending to be a woman or couple will run away.

Yep. Suspect it happens a lot. I got let down by a couple on Friday. Drove three hours back from South Wales to get a message at 5pm saying they wouldn't be coming.

Nothing more frustrating when you make a point of being reliable (as well as trying to be the right kind of person generally), only to be dropped at the last minute for a non-emergency 'reason'. You tend to assume they got a perceived 'better offer' and were happy to just drop you like a stone. No loss in the big scheme of things as why would a genuine person want to be involved with others like that, but being left high and dry on a Friday evening means you're stuck home while they still get their kicks. Really do struggle to understand what these folks get out of it?

I have done it once but only because I fell off my bike broke my phone and couldn’t do anything to warn her (I was halfway to the meet when it happened) so she sat in Costa for an hour on a Sunday afternoon until they closed up. Needless to say she didn’t believe me and blocked all contact - I don’t blame her either - god she was lovely though. As for me the closest I got to being stood up was wandering round a pub with three bars on different levels as my blind date did the same - we did hook up back on the ground floor just as I was thinking about leaving and everything went very well after that - I think we were both relieved we hadn’t been stood up lol

I have been swinging for 18 years and have never been stood up, well that was until a few weeks ago, I got a lovely message from a very genuine sounding lady who ticked all my box's, she took her time to put together a very well thought out message. Her profile was new but again very well written. She didn't yet have any verifications so obviously this did cause me some concern but due to the very well written message I decided to take a chance. Now I have always prided myself on being able to spot a time waster a mile off and hence convinced myself those finely tuned senses would never let me down and all would be good.. guess what she stood me up! The moral of the story is at some point you will get stood up regardless of how good you think you are at spotting a fake. As annoying as this can be I think we need to accept there is always going to be a risk of this happening. But sometimes taking a risk can really pay off. I guess you have to take the rough with the smooth and most importantly remember all the amazing people you have met on this site far outweigh the timewasters.

We’ve been stood up twice in the past and so if we arrange any future meets, we plan our night as we would without a meet and if they fail to show, we’ll continue with our planned night. In other words that meet becomes secondary.

It’s a shame we have to do this but unfortunately, there are far too many time wasters, too many smiling faces and nice words yet little action.

Been stood up a lot. Last time was on here I was stood up 16 times by women and couples for various reasons.

Also been stood up a fair few times off other sites for dating.

Been left waiting in restaurants and shopping centres a few times and it’s not a pleasant feeling.

It has put me off and got me down at times.

Because he came up with viable excuses i know his profession but it wont be happening again.

I have a couple of times but not with people I am meeting for the first time. People do have to cancel from time to time so if people give me a reason I give them the benefit of the doubt.

I personally block them if they don't bother to show up. In most cases they block me first anyway. It's so frustrating as I'm the one who has gone to all the effort to look good and they stand me up!?

That's a shame indeed.

I have never cancelled but have had many last minute cancellations . Earlier I'd book hotel if needed but not anymore.

P.S. where were you when I was in Gosport ? Damn I'd stand you up, sit you down, and what not

Hiya. What I'm finding is some not all on this site are Rude, Pushy & Attention seeking & don't appreciate Genuine and Honest Men

I've quickly learnt u can see those who are timewasters and liars bur don't let select few put u off

Some women are more concerned with attention & verifications than actually sharing experience and fantasies etc

If someone stands u up block them simple as that x

I had arranged social on Wednesday at 2pm. At 1:45 guy texted saying he is leaving his house... great means he will be late... then asked for a post code...WTF? We are meeting in his town... turns out he lives 60 miles away from place he told me.

I had a nice drink on my own and got myself a new hand bag...

a guy was an instant block.

My gut feeling is that people are relying on Fab less these days to arrange meets as a result of timewasters and fakes.

I see many more people saying they prefer clubs which are now widely available throughout the Uk.

Bad news for Fabs owners and their income.

Perhaps if they came down harder on these wasters (including those who pay subs) this could be reversed. I am not holding out any great hopes though.

Clubs aren't widely available in the UK. There might be a few in England, but Scotland has a grand total of two, hundreds of miles from many of us.

Like others have said - I tend now to go to clubs and see who is there.

I might have a look to see if anyone I know is going but it is very rare i will arrange a meet outside of club scene - last time probably 2 years ago

I think fab need to do something to tighten up who is on the site.

When you block them they just open another profile i had one guy had 25 different ones and anothers had about ten i now just block instantly but know they will be back again.
