Hello everyone. Before you start typing an emotionally driven response, please note that that my profile states I like curves and those who embrace them.

I find it really interesting that the majority of women are large and that there isn't a solid mix.

I have drawn my own naive conclusion but was just wondering on what your thoughts were for this being the case?

Because the average UK woman is a size 16 so I’m guessing that’s why you will see more larger ladies.

perception is probably key. if you deem someone as a 10 to be "big" then everyone else in comparison is gonna be predominantly bigger. If the average is 16 as someone else said then really the numbers would be more balanced. in my humble opinion

Someone posted somthing similar to these a few weeks back, he got torn to shreds because his conclusion why there was a much higher percentage of larger women on here compared to slim or athletic women was that on here these women can punch way above their weight and gets lots of attention where as walking down the average street they dont get any.

Like i said he got torn to shreds but there was comments from a few larger women that agreed with this and the male half of some couples saying its true because no one looks at their partners twice when out and about but in here they get so much attention.

So i guess there is a lil bit of truth in that maybe.

There are beautiful ladies of all sizes. I was big. I am now slim. I prefer to be and worked very hard to get here but some ladies aren't that fortunate. So love us all. Big. Small and in-between

I’m about average and I’m the exact same. But good for us if we’re punching! It might look like punching to folk on the outside, but to the people involved? Maybe they’ve found their perfect match, someone who is exactly what they’re looking for?

Exactly. I’m not here for casual fucks so I only meet people with potential to be more so my standards are the same as outside of here. I do find it harder to find what I’m looking for but the occasionally one grabs my attention. My weight or size has never been questioned.

I’m a tad above the national average ladies....used to be significantly above the national average, hard work and effort has got me to here. I still want to be a teeny bit smaller but it won’t be to appeal to some of the super hot out of my league men on here!! Ha ha x

Maybe it’s your perception OP. I might argue that fab is a more accurate representation of the female adult population; where there isn’t the level of body shaming seen in “mainstream” society. Women (and men and TV/TG) not ashamed to show off their bodies.

Perception is subjective to the individual...I consider 10-12 as slim but others might say that 12 is curvy and that 6 - 8 is slim, something I might consider skinny. Once again, subjective to the individual.

To CLARIFY....I was looking for answers as to why the "majority" of women are listed as anything other than slim, or average...and I was looking for help in understanding why...which I still haven't received

The population is getting bigger as a whole..less exercise, lots of food available..I feel sorry for our kids and their Kids..nobody is going to go out .. it's a case of playing computer games being on social media and not going out in the real world...that's why the Docs are saying there is going to be an obesity crisis in future..when I was a kid at Christmas everybody was out on their new bikes..you never see any kids out on Christmas day on their bikes now ..you just see flashes of TV screens coming from bedroom windows

There are lots of slim people on here but a size 8 may be curvy so listed as that. An 8 doesn’t always equate to being slim. A size 14 could be an althete and all muscle. The fact is, statistically there are more people on the larger side in general.

Maybe its psychological. Maybe the misrepresentation of what a female should look like (by society and fashin magazines etc) have brainwashed women into thinking they are "larger" than what is "acceptable".

Or then again, everyone is their own harshest critic and people portray themselves as something they arent just because they are more conscious of their (self proclaimed) imperfections.

You are right about the statistical national average. However, different platforms appeal to different audiences. Tinder tells a very different story and is hugely driven by vanity. I am unsure why Fab has a different trend. I have a type that I am attracted to which is why I am here and not on Tinder or anything remotely similar.

Not sure why anyone should get ripped to shreds for their opinion!

I don’t agree myself, as a size 22 I have never struggled with “attention” and if I wanted to join a dating site and grab a fuck buddy I could and I have. However my preferences are for men older, men I wouldn’t nessecarily meet in the places I socialise in. So sites like this are perfect.

I wouldn’t know what punching above my weight is as I don’t tend to “rate” people like that, and as someone said who decides who is punching?

I don’t know if there are significantly more larger women on here than slim, as when I look at the hot photos it’s mostly slimmer women... but as someone said it could be the fact that the average U.K. dress size is 16, or the fact that obesity is increasing more and more.

I preferred myself as a size 14/16 and I am slowly but surely getting there! I’m more of a size 18/20 now since I’ve lost weight however my boobs are still keeping me in bigger tops so the 22 on my profile is staying until they decide to hurry the fuck up and shrink a little!

I wouldn’t know what punching above my weight is as I don’t tend to “rate” people like that, and as someone said who decides who is punching?

Thats exactly the same for me, I prefer ladies that are older than myself and here is a good place for just that, we have that in common

I work in retail. We regularly get ladies of size 16-20 (so medium to large) coming Shopping with teenage daughters who are already larger than their mothers! As most of us tend to get bigger as we age (I was a size 8 when young - size 12 now) that means these girls - unless they take action - will be significantly larger by the time they reach middle age and endangering their health!

The obvious answer is out there and it’s a simple solution but it won’t happen - it’s to have more p.e lessons in school, college and university and making food tech (or cookery as it used to be known) compulsory every week from primary right through to the age of 18. Those kids can then go home and teach their ‘fast food generation ‘ parents how to cook!

A simple solution - but it’ll never happen!

Yeah it's definately a modern day thing, back in the 80s we British use to mock Americans for all being over weight burger eaters. Well the UK society has unfortunately gone the same way and its now seen as the norm. And I don't think it's just women either before you slate me. Men, including myself, are having the problem too I think. It's down to poor quality of food and, not being as socially active and spending more time in front of a screen on our bums. I personally go for the normal build woman, meaning someone without excess fat on them, but I don't like a bag of bones.

I've seen women on here who have very low body fat percentages upto high, and everything in-between. The same with men. I was hearing today that there is a school initiative where the kids run a mile every school day. More schools should be doing this, but it might be difficult with limited playing fields.

I am 10-12 up top and 16-18 hips, bum and legs. I have the same kind of men looking twice in and outside the scene.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with someone having a preference, they are well entitled to one.

What I don’t like is when someone has a preference and they bash what is not their preference. “Not interested in ugly fatties, slim women only” or “Not interested in a bag of bones, curvy women please” both of which I have seen but worded differently.

I don’t see the need to insult something you’re not attracted to, it just makes the person sound bitter & insecure in my opinion!

To be fair - the reason the national average women’s size is discussed much more is that it’s increased rapidly in the last couple of generations - much more so than men - to the extent that it’s become a major concern from a health point of view. If the current trend continues then the ‘average ‘ woman will be dangerously overweight within a couple of generations and the NHS will collapse!

As I said in my previous post - what I see every day when at work bears this out!

I completely agree, and I am guilty of it myself. When I worked full time it was fast food, working, going home, watching TV, sleeping etc etc, and the weight piled on.

I’m self employed & part time now and I’m so active, losing inches quicker than stones but I love it. Swimming is my thing, and it’s honestly amazing how in a year your fitness level can go through the roof!

I don’t think the rise in fast food chains, or unhealthy food should be to blame. We are individuals with choice and individuals should be able to make a healthy decision. Once you stop eating the junk food you realise how vile it actually tasted and start to really appreciate healthy food cooked from scratch.

I would never be a size 8 due to my frame. I was when I was a teenager but I looked ill. I’m usually a size 12 at my healthiest. I was off sick for 3 months due to an injury last year so put on a little weight but I follow a clean eating lifestyle (paleo) just not as active as I’d like to be due to jet lag every week and still recovering from injury. My best mate is a size 6-8 and she is the most unhealthy person I know. She looks great but can’t walk a hill without moaning. My fitness is way better than hers.

A couple of months ago my young teenagers and I had a chat and decided we all wanted to eat more healthily! None of us were particularly overweight but we all felt sluggish and unhealthy!

I spend a lot more time cooking now - and I won’t pretend I’ll ever love cooking - but our meals taste a hell of a lot nicer, we all look healthier and my son and I have both lost about 6lbs simply from eating food cooked from scratch 6 days per week (we still have one ‘treat day’) Eventually I expect to lose about a stone in total- which will put me at my official ‘ideal weight’ or thereabouts!

My next step is to get the kids cooking too!

This is one of the reasons that any fat/skinny shaming threads annoy me. I'm 5'3 and have a small body frame. I could be a size 0 and look healthy (and not be underweight BMI wise). However, if I had a large bodyframe I would look ill at a size 12 (let alone be six sizes smaller!)

Many women get more comfortable as they mature, so they have the confidence to show off their bodies and know what they want.

As a nation, the average size/weight is increasing. I guess Fab is representative of this.

I find it very sad when I see children and young people who are clearly unfit/unhealthy at their age.

It really does bother me when I am forced to sit next to an overweight/obese person on a long flight though.
