How accurate is the feature?

I was going to meet someone and onother member who I’ve been talking to showed as being very nearby, however so has said she’s abroad.

Is there a glitch or is there a fibber?

I think if they have it switched on it shows how far away their phone really is. If not it shows how far away their registered place or postcode is.

Judging by people who are actually away showing 300+ I believe that she’s lying...

We’re chatting to a guy who’s in the same hotel as us in Cyprus. If I go to the home screen on the mobile site and allow the app to use my location, he’s 1/4 mile away. If I don’t allow it, then he shows as 2100 miles away.

If using the desktop page, this isn’t an option so will always show as the “home” location.

I am not an expert, these are just my findings from using the site for some years

What I don’t understand is that on fabswingers the mobile location is only good to 1/4 mile, but on fab guys it goes as far as touching distance!! I’d love this accuracy to be transferred to fabswingers......admin?

Has she got ‘show my location’ switched on? And have you? As above - if you dont have the option switched on then fab won’t show you her current phone location regardless of her option choices. It regards it as ‘unfair’ to display other users precise location if you won’t reveal yours.

If she hasn’t got it switched on fab will just show you how close you are to her registered city or postcode.

Both switched one, hence there being two readings. The one remains the same (registered postcode) and the other varies as you change distance from or towards another user (gps)...

Of course it will vary as you get closer to another member do you accept when it asks to show your location? We have never had this problem and we use the mobile app the most
