Morning people, it would appear I've started to suffer from phimosis at the ripe old age of 34. I have a very active sex life and it's not painful. Basically when I get had hard and the foreskin retracts it's stretching so much and tearing the foreskin, I'm not talking about my banjo (frenulum) as I've done that before.

I know the first answer everyone will say is go see your GP, well I'm working on that...

What I am asking you all is has anyone been circumcised as an adult? How was the recovery, have you had any mental issues afterwards? The thought of it scares the hell out of me, I have been looking at photos and to me the penis looks mutilated. This is obviously on top of the fear of my man hood going under the knife in the hands of a complete stranger never to be the same again.

Any help would be great!

I can help you out with this.

So I was circumcised a few years ago, due to another medical problem (not Phimosis.) I had all the same fears you have.

The recovery time is supposed to be 1 month. It is painful, but not unbearable. If you look after yourself right after the operation then there shouldn't be any problems. I remember actually playing football about a week after the operation, but I was heavily bandaged up down there.

You won't be able to masturbate or have sex for awhile. That was a huge issue to me because I'm insatiable. I masturbated on the 12th day of recovery, very slowly and gently and I ended up bleeding a bit. I would advise against that.

I wouldn't worry about how your penis looks afterwards. I'm sure your woman will have no issues with it.

Sex and masturbation will be very different once you're circumcised... but I've found that both have improved immensely. You will be able to last longer. I've found that I can cum from things I never used to be able to cum from before I was circumcised, such as blowjobs. Everything just feels different, but in a good way. I haven't lost much sensitivity and I feel sexier this way.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

You can do this man, be strong.

I'll just add... I was absolutely petrified when I was told I needed a cicumcision. I was as scared as you are now. I actually didn't turn up to the first appointment out of fear and had to wait a long time to get a new one.

When I finally had it done, it wasn't so bad and it's turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.

It's not going to be even nearly as bad as you think it will be.

Thank you Bley, your positivity is helping, having looked at your photos that has also helped too.

From what I've read, 1 week off work (won't happen) 10 days initial recovery then 4 weeks before sex.

I haven't been to the doctors ad yet and just that thought is scary enough!

Speaking of photos, I have photos of my cock before I was circumcised and obviously photos after too. (No photos during recovery or anything like that.)

You could be right about the recovery times. But bear in mind what happened to me when I tried to masturbate after 12 days.

The doctors will be fine. He should set your mind at ease.

Again, be strong. This is for the greater good.

couple, us we him her.

I had to have mine done for similar reasons when I was 25 and I won't lie it's painful after.

I found that because it was so sensitive I would get hard ons very easily and it hurts when the stitches pull.

It's not as tidy looking as someone who maybe had it done as a child, but that's my fault for messing around with the stitches and taking them out to early .

However no mental health issues and I much prefer it.

It's more hygienic in my personal opinion,it's more sensitive and no pain from tight foreskin.

I used to work in the operating theatre (years ago) and circumcisions would always get a general anaesthetic. I can't imagine it's changed, although I suppose it is possible to do it using local anaesthetic block, or a sort of variation of an epidural.

Vasectomies are easily and often performed under local, but it's a entirely different procedure.

I had to have it done also. Not bad at all, canula in the hand was worse as I hate needles and was pulling that out before the nurses could get to it. I drove home after even though I was advised not to. I didn't have any other option though and this wasn't an issue. I was back at work two days after with no problems and I have a very physical job. The stitches pulled now and again (about 30 were needed), but nothing too bad. Full recovery was six weeks but we didn't need to wait that long. Yes you do loose sensation overtime a little, but it's much better than the current situation you're in. You may not need the full thing sometimes steroid cream can help and they can also perform a slight cut. This was offered to me, but success rates are low so you end up needing two ops in the end. Get yourself down the docs for a check up. I hope this helps.

That's a good point that I should've mentioned actually. You may have to switch soaps. The foreskin protects the head of the penis, so it's easier to get dry skin and friction burns when you're circumcised.

I use FemFresh personally... not that you'd be able to tell by my pics or anything.

However, I have seen the operation done a couple of times.... if you need the op then do it, you will probably feel a lot better for it once healed. However probably best not to think about the op too much, I’m not gonna describe it... trust me, you don’t want to know what happens, you just need to know that the op will fix your problem lol.

Imagine the length of NHS waiting lists if the surgeon had to have dinner and sex with every patient before an operation.

I was circumcised at 40. Im not sure if it was a medical condition but my foreskin had always been too tight so wanted it removed. There was some discomfort for a couple of weeks after so two weeks off work were required but I was very pleased with the results. There was mention of reduced sensitivity of the glans over time but 17 yrs later it feels as sensitive and pleasurable as it did in the first weeks of post circumcision

If you need the OP for health and comfort then go for it but if it's just in the hope of getting more chances at sex then just keep moiturising and pulling it back gently.

I'm not a doctor but it worked for me as mine was tight years ago and thats what the doc told me to do and it worked.

I used pure coconut oil.

Luckily mine pulls all the way back these days so the best of both worlds

Had it done at a similar age to you are now.

It is painful. It is uncomfortable however you can ask for numbing gel to help with the pain. I was back at work doing 12 hour shifts two days later.

Sex is so much better now. Much more feeling.

Best decision I made having it done. If you can’t pull forskin back then just remember being circumcised is much cleaner.

My advice. Go get it sorted.

I had it done at 29 like you was scared but I was in a bit of pain due to tightness

A little funnyish story

I had just started chatting to a girl who ended up being my gf. I met for 1st time about 10days after the op. She asked me if I wanted to stay over as she knew I was out of action. She felt safe 1st date. So she offered too share her bed too . As you can imagine I tried to behave wanting no horny thoughts but sometimes you can't and I had a little hard on starting so I was starting hurt like hell.

I could only think of ice to stop it growing but she didn't have any so I ended up with a bag of frozen peas and carrots on my crotch walking around trying to make my hard on sub side it worked.

Anyway everyone has said the rest I would have. Well worth it

I have had a phimosis all my life, it has never been painfull and I do not retract or need to. I have contemplated getting it sorted but they would just take it all off and leave it looking bare. I am happy to leave it as it is and no partner has ever suggested otherwise.

I had mine done at 21 and was with a GF at the time who obviously was able to tell me if there was any difference in the before and after, and she said she actually preferred the after.

I’m not gonna lie, it’ll hurt at first, and when I first took the bandage off and saw the bruising and swelling I almost fainted, but that passes in a few days, and then it’s just healing. Wear baggy boxers and trousers if you can (shorts are even better), and they’ll advise baths over showers as you’ll have dissolving stitches which need about 4/5 weeks.

As for sex and masturbating, WAIT. Trust me, I know it’ll be difficult, but erections will hurt initially thanks to the stitches, and even if you think you might risk it early, don’t as you’ll be sore and not even know it.

Otherwise, good luck brother, welcome to the club

Where the Wild Things Are

Had mine done at the ripe old age of 20. It was a little bit sore for about a week or so, but the benefits really do outweigh the drawbacks (or non-drawbacks?)

I was back in work after 3 days (a walking job) - didn’t take long to get used to it at all - just a bit of time to get used to the increased sensitivity without a polo neck.

Get it done, you’ll be fine

I was done @40 and I wouldn’t say it was painful, more uncomfortable. As for erections, trust me, they may start but once the stitches start pulling it soon subsided.

I also had a 2nd surgery around 8 years later as my helmet didn’t like being out so it kind of retracted and created another foreskin. The surgeon advised it was done properly last time resulting in another op. Now I have issues again and have an appointment next week! I may end up the only man to have been circumcised 3 times lol.

I had to have circumcision at 24 as a Sgt in the Army. I was in NI at the time and upon waking after the op, a couple of the cleaners, lovely Belfast ladies thought it was the right thing to do to give me copies of Playboy, Mayfair, Penthouse. Needless to say I very rapidly had to ask for an ice pack.

Took about a month for the self dissolving stitches to come out and I have never looked back. The head is less sensitive and I think it is a lot cleaner look. Good luck my friend, I am sure you will be fine.

I had the same problem a few years back and was advised a circumcision. But I did my own research and went diwn the route of a frenuloplasty and a preputioplasty( widening the fireskin instead of a full circumcision). Doc didn't want to do it but I insisted on It, best decision I made as I have the best of both worlds and never had a problem since.

Yes .. had same problem and after a few years decided under advice from GP to have Circumcision. I am not going to lie. It was FAR from nice .. very uncomfortable for about a week ( lying down /bag of frozen peas sort of thing ) for about 3 days . Then slowly but surely got a bit less uncomfortable . After a while stitches start to loosen and eventually fall out .. Took about 2 weeks in total . Getting the glans /bell end bit to get used to rubbing on everything all the time was 'interesting' but after a while the skin gets more leathery and less reactive . It is hard work with morning wood and the truth is you are better off wearing either nothing at all ( pants, trousers etc ) or a lose robe . Clothes are very hard work ! especially when things stick to them !

Much better now without the skin .. but hurt like hell after the op .. Downside? not much .. losss of sensitivity all around the glans apart from the 'banjo' bit that works fine . lubrication is essential even for a quick wank as it doesn't seem to want to do much 'dry' and no foreskin means it is always as dry as a bone there .

Would I do it again ?

Knowing what I do now ?

maybe Good luck

I don't really understand all of the post op pain. I was fine and back at work two days later and I have a very manually physical job moving tonnes of goods around each day.So lots of lifting and carrying. I drove home after the surgery no issues and didn't need any pain relief either during recovery. Yes it ached and the stitches pulled sometimes, but nothing I couldn't deal with. I found it more inconvenient than painful, so I really wouldn't worry.

Had mine done last year because it has always been tight. The final straw was getting BXO where the foreskin and glans fused.

Was really nervous, but I manned up as the insurance had paid £5k to get it done....the urologist was brilliant, he did the best he could and even asked what height (high, med or low) cut I wanted.

I’m not gonna lie, the first piss was horrendous. The first three days were, especially the first boner with no pain relief.

My cock looks way better now. No loss of sensation: in fact I think sex and wanking feel better! Plus no more BXO white bits.

Man up and get it done. It be reet!

local not general and the first needle hurt like hell,, also they put non dissolving stitches in by mistake , the skin healed around them, then got inflamed till i had to have them cut and pulled out, overall bad experience but the end result was worth it , no more scaring from ripped skin"

I have tears of unimaginable pain in my eyes from reading that experience- glad it’s worth it now though

I am in the same position, been suffering with phimosis for the last year and creams and stretching didn't work. I had issue with the ring itself which doesn't stretch but also with little tears in the foreskin which cruely happy just as I'm making progress and set me back to square one due to it scarring after healing. So i am finally booked in for surgery under general anesthetic in a few weeks time and bricking it a little

I've read up on so much stuff about it and really hope it all goes ok and recovery will be as smooth as some have said but I'm prepared with pain killers if not.

I've been given the option of a dorsal slit but could have a full circumcision, they did say sometimes the dorsal slits can re-heal and another op may be needed so tempted to just have full circumcision to remove that risk.

Having seen the dorsal slit I would go all the way and have a full circumcision. The slit looks horrendous!

Ok guys I finally plucked up the courage to go to the doctors! I had fully come to terms that I need to be circumcised and had that mindset. Turns out I have a condition called Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans (BXO), I may still need to go under the knife but not for a long time to come.

So Natalie of the story, don’t flap about something and just go see the quack!

I had a circumcision 6 years ago for the same reason. Ain't gonna lie, for me it was painful as hell but only because i got a post op infection.

The op was done under a general and i was in and out of hospital the same day. Normal recovery to go back to work is 2 weeks and 6 weeks for the full recovery. I am very happy that i did it and now sex is 1000% improved for me personally.

It's terrifying but altogether worth it!!!

Well less than 2 weeks to the Op a starting to feel nervous lol

Think I'll be having a hiatus from Fab for a month or so to reduce risks of arousal lol

I was circumcised at the age of 30, because my foreskin was too tight, and was troublesome when it did pull back. Because of its tightness, the pressure under my glans caused an erection, and it was impossible to pull forward to its normal state until my penis had gone limp. Eventually, the frenulum (the skin which joins the foreskin to the penis) broke, and it took a week to heal. It was on my doctor's advice to go for circumcision, which I did.

Sex became a lot more comfortable after the op, but I was off work for two weeks. One other thing is that you will be in a bandage for a few days during recovery, and it's advisable not to remove this, because if you get the "morning wood", as us guys do, the erection can cause some of the self-dissolving stitches to break, and there will be some blood. So keep the dressing on for at least one week. Having said that, I would only recommend circumcision if you feel you really need it, and if your GP advises you to.

I had it done aswell its not as bad as you think it took me about 4 weeks to heal.

I used bio oil which can make the scarring less severe looking the only problem is rubbing on everything and at times I felt like my knob was wrapped in barbed wire because of the stitches, But as long as you use pain meds you should be ok, I had to wear shorts for the 4 weeks because jeans pressed against it but everyone is different.

the only issue I find is ive felt horny 24/7 since it but that's down to the sensitivity in the head lol

I (Mr here) had it done for the same seasons about 9yrs ago . I was in and out of the hospital in a few hours and back to work a few days later . As for recovery time everyone is different and my opp also happen the week after the wife had a baby . So wasn't happening anyway lol .

I have found that since then the top of the cock has become less sensitive as the skin toughened up . But it has the other affect taking longer for me to cum to the happiness of all the ladies we meet lol

The down side to it is I no longer enjoy having a wank as I feel the skin is to tight as it don't slide up and down anymore ....

"I used to work in the operating theatre (years ago) and circumcisions would always get a general anaesthetic. I can't imagine it's changed, although I suppose it is possible to do it using local anaesthetic block, or a sort of variation of an epidural.

Vasectomies are easily and often performed under local, but it's a entirely different procedure."

Just in relation to this ...

Mine was done under local and I was fully awake and chatting with the hott nurce while the doc/surgeon took off my hood

I hate needles so that was the worst part all the little pricks lol before it was numb . Then I was given an erection to mark the skin . I couldn't feel a thing while she held my cock but I could hear the scissor cut the skin

Thankfully, mine was done under general, and I was glad to have been completely out during the op.

I was circumcised about 6 years ago under general and while the few weeks after the operation are not the best the end result is amazing. I remember not being able to get out of bed for the first day or so as it was so oooo sensitive when I moved but once bandaged up so it wasn't rubbing on anything it was OK.

Get yourself to your gp and get it sorted. Nothing to worry about

Hi all; I had mine done about 4 months ago, spent fair to long worried about going to the doctors etc and then finally did it - so wish I’d done it sooner. All healed now and so much better than before; loving the new look too. Go and get it looked at if you think something is wrong or tight.

Nearly 2 weeks in to recovery. First week was uncomfortable but no pain as such. The pain came in last weekend and caused a 4/5 interrupted nights sleep but now the pain is nearly gone but still uncomfortable and sensitive.

Night time erections are the biggest annoyance so have up wearing anything to minimise rubbing but from time to time the duvet interferes. Doctor says it is progressing well but i have been given some anti-biotics to help.

So another 2 to 4 weeks recovery time still to go as an estimate based on what others have said however I'm in no rush to test it, would be nice to have a meet before Christmas lol

I had an adult circumcision and several subsequent ops a few years ago (cancer related). I was worried as well, watched all the videos, did the research etc. However the op went smoothly and recover was okay - night time erections were an issue but a glass of ice by the bed helped with that.

I will say that delaying going to the Dr or having the operations would have meant a penectomy in my case (a cockoffofme operation), so I would say if you are in any doubt or have anything you are not sure of go and see a dr straight away.

I was circumised in July 2018. I didn’t have any problem what so ever with my foreskin and did it purely out of aestetic reasons. From my perspective I think it looks nicer (my wife doesn’t have any preference).

Had it done in London at one of the most popular circumcision clinics known for doing a good job (I did a very thorough research). They are also one of the very few using the «Shang ring» method which is pain free and gives a good result with a neat scar. However, I choosed the free hand method since I had some preferences on the circumcision style.

The circumsion was doen under local anesthesia and took about 1 hour - totally pain free! SHang ring takes 10 minutes but you have to come back after one week to take it of. Took only one painkiller after the anesthesia wore off. Had no pain or problem after surgery. Tested it 14 days after surgery. Very happy with the result - nice and clean, glad I did it

I had it done in early twenties (a long time ago) as foreskin too tight. It was sore for a while, looked odd for a while. But got better - as did my enjoyment of sex.

I'm 3 weeks in now, most of the stitches have come out. It's a little shorter than it was before and still have some swelling and firm bits which I've been told will still continue to heal over the next couple of months which should return to previous length (i hope)

Hope you don't mind the slight detour I was circumcised as a kid so can't offer any advice the only thing I remember is feeling like I need to pee but not being able to like when you try and piss really hard and strain the muscles in your wee man.

On a similar note does the steroids cream toughen the skin? I could probably do with something as I'm currently an every other day man due to breakages but I really don't want to show my doctor my dick so have been putting it off, I don't know why (although him being an about 8ft tall black dude who's probably hung like a horse might have something to do with it) if it were hard I'd be fine with it but that'd be a bit weird.

"Morning people, it would appear I've started to suffer from phimosis at the ripe old age of 34.

Any help would be great!"

Had mine done as an adult. Recovery was quick but try not dream about sex or you wake up very quickly! Best thing I ever did!!

Worst part for me was Porter pushing to theatre looking at chart saying “no skin off my nose” !! Scousers and thier humour eh??

But my experience seems a lot better than most on here. Few days off, I wanted more, told work was hernia op. Dick looks bigger, it’s cleaner, sex not having to stop to heal little nicks...wife likes it better.....can get a condom on!! All good
