I have body image issues yet I am relatively confident regardless. Mainly because I am fully aware that they are my issues and no one else's so I don't see why they should affect my outward confidence.

For the life of me, I can't imagine why - or perhaps more saliently - how they could possibly try and do that. What is there to criticise?

Ten years since the first time i walked down a public road in a frock. Since then I've given lectures at public events, chatted with bishops, travelled around the country, co-written a paper that was presented at a high profile psychology conference, danced in my underwear in front of 300 swingers. I still have some confidence issues but I'm getting there...

I don't think it makes them self conscious. It just highlights their already existing insecurities.

I've never really had any confidence, but getting knocked back does quite a bit of damage to my confidence. Not just on here, but anywhere. It plays into the idea I have that I'm not good-looking enough. It's probably not the best place to be, but I only mainly come for the forums now.

I guess it's why I dislike messages been read but then being deleted without a reply. The recipient of that message has no idea what the sender is dealing with. That could be really damaging to that person's self-esteem.

And before anyone says it, I despise the ''why should I care about upsetting random strangers on the internet'' attitude. You shouldn't necessarily care, but you also shouldn't knowingly do something you wouldn't want being done to yourself. Getting knocked back or ignored hurts no matter who you are and anyone who says it doesn't is lying to themselves.

I don't believe that joining a website makes you insecure! If a website has done that to you then why on earth would you stay??

Frankly, this is the worst possible place for an average bloke with confidence issues. Given the ratios, a good 95% of your approaches will be rejected without a reply.

I disagree, single males do get rejected a hell of a lot but I find that most of the time if I were to get rejected it’s because people have children around the same age or something similar, doesn’t knock me though because more often than not I get appreciation for either my photos or the way I conduct myself which gave me a lot more confidence over time. I was not half as comfortable when I first joined like two years ago
