As many of you may know, we work closely with Terrence Higgins Trust and Sahir House in promoting safe sex for our members through drop in testing, free condoms and education.

Sahir House are working alongside Macmillan Cancer Support in a massive research programme targeting the LGBT community and they have asked us to help capture people from the swinging community who are also lesbian, gay, bi and/or transgender. They welcome people falling anywhere on the trans spectrum.

Here is their message to you....

The Macmillan LGBT Cancer Programme Merseyside is proud to announce the LGBT Health Survey.

Macmillan has brought Sahir House on board to improve services and support to members of the LGBT community who are affected or could be affected by cancer in Merseyside. Over the next year, we will be working to identify the gaps in service support that LGBT people affected by cancer will face and then to bridge those gaps to ensure the cancer pathway meets the needs of each individual.

One of the first initiatives the programme has launched is the LGBT Health Survey Merseyside. The LGBT Health Survey is part of a joint project between Sahir House and Macmillan. It is open to all LGBT people across Merseyside, and will be conducted from May 17th – August 2nd. The survey hopes to examine the health and wellbeing of LGBT people in the region, LGBT people’s experiences in healthcare settings as well as their relationship with certain behaviours such as smoking, drinking, self-tanning etc. We hope that the survey will be the largest of its kind conducted so far in the region, mirroring that of research conducted in LGBT communities in other parts of the country like London, Brighton and Manchester. The results of the survey will be used to inform training to medical professionals, identify gaps in service provision then influence change to bridge those gaps and improve services for LGBT people.

The survey can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/merseysidelgbt. We strongly value the input of every LGBT person in Merseyside, and the responses we receive will make a real difference and shape the future of healthcare for LGBT people across the region.

Thanks everyone for your help. It literally took me 10 mins, so it won't take much of your day

xxx
