When you love somebody

Have you ever found yourself wanting something so bad that you’ll just go for it and to hell with everything else?

And then when you’re finally seeing that you can have the life you’ve always wanted you suddenly realise if you continue you’ll lose that one very special person who was there with you all the way?

So what did you do?

Walk away from the dream and save your relationship?

Or continue and hope it works out?

Asking for a friend.

Honestly, no I've never been in that situation. If I was I would probably carry on and hope it worked out but that would very much depend on the other person I imagine.

Sometimes in life it is just not possible to have it all and if having it all was at the expense of the feelings of someone I loved I'd be hugely conflicted.

crewe

If it was me id talk to my partner and really get her point of view instead of jumping x. In my case my gf has said she would love to play with another girl someday in a 3sum situation and im cool with that but we both wouldnt go with someone else as its plain wrong cheating but thats just us. Id say your friend needs to see the hurt they could cause by doing something selfish like that. Without inc the one that loves them and would follow them till the end of time x

Continue and hope it works out, the special person may well come round. They could just be fearfull if the outcome and pain involved in the other person achieving their dream xxx

Difficult situation to be in. I suppose it comes down to if the "life they've always wanted to lead" would also ideally still include the special person too. And if not, then it's a case of which, long term, feels the "right" thing to do. I think sometimes people can be seduced by short term fulfillment that can feel like happiness, but can forget the authenticity of long term connections. In either case, I think it's clear (to me, at least) that the long term special person should have the benefit of honest and heartfelt communication.xx

Depends on how much I loved that person. Sometimes if you love someone you have to set them free.

Perhaps she will meet someone and be happier and you can still be friends. x

...Up on the Downs

Well I chose loyalty, that's who I am.

I would say beware, all that glistens is not gold, but talk to the one who was there all along and decide together - they deserve that much loyalty and respect IMO.

I have probably misunderstood the situation, as normal....

Go with your heart, not your naughty desires.

Take care

I can assure you there are no naughty desires involved. X

I had the opportunity to move abroad when I was younger and didn't because my mum and sister put me off. I could have been to loads of places. I have only had a few regrets in my life and would say that's the biggest one. The people in your life can still be in it just a bit further away. If my kids or other half ever had opportunities like that I would encourage them. It's the old chiche that life's too short but my god it's so true. Take the opportunity and don't look back x
