I absolutely love dressing up but I find it can be quite lonely as friends are hard to come by that have similar interests and not expecting you to jump straight into bed with them only for that sake of it.

Anybody else experience this?

Try and find a local club that has tv nights, you will find girls in the same position as you.

My first venture out was at a club in 2015, I've been friends with a girl I met there since then.

I now go out into Leeds and Newcastle and know lots of other girls.

Just remember we all started the same way xxx

Jamie, if nothing else why not plan to come to the Sparkle festival in Manchester, in July? It's the largest free entry transgender event in Europe if not the world, about 10,000 cd/tv/ts/tg/bi-gendered/gender-fluid people descend upon the city for the weekend. Some come from the other side of the world (I know of at least one person that most years makes the journey from Argentina). Think of something like a pride festival, but where everyone is trans or a trans supporter.

You don't have to worry about the details of how you dress or if your hair or make up is not quite right, there will be people there in every stage of their journey.

My first Sparkle was a wonderful event for me, I looked rubbish but nobody cared, it gave me the confidence to realise that I could do it. I met people, I made friends, I went shopping dressed in my femme mode for the first time!

Google for Sparkle, you should be able to find loads of photos and loads of information.

I’ve been the last two years. You get to meet people just like you.

I was on stage hoping to be crowned Miss Sparkle last year but I lost to a gorgeous Indian girl.

It’s an awsome weekend with some completely outrageous outfits and lots of tvs mingling with thousands of lgbtq identifying and supporting people.

they have forums and it’s specifically for all Tgirls ..... you may get better conversations flowing on there hun ..

No my close friends don’t know and I’m not open to telling them I’d rather meet new people with similar interests and I can be comfortable around

People go around these places predominantly looking for sex but there's also a social side to it aswell

I've met and chatted with some great people some of them I've known on and off for years and all it takes is winding down your window and saying hi

Jamie feel your pain hunny I think perhaps crossdressing is so badly understood and looked on as wierd that its no easy to have that support of others who understand so many of us do it in secret in the privacy of our own homes that it can be lonely. With the advent of internet at least now you can connect with others online even if 80% of those are trying to hump you most of the time LOL I remember how freakish and alone I felt dressing in the 80's and was amazed how many others dressed when I cam on sites like this and other so your not alone even if you do feel lonely xxx feel free to say hello to me or chat if you see online us gurls gotta support each other xx Sally

We all start somewhere . I go out all over these days .nothing stops me .I don't stop at TV friendly or gay places either .if you can blend in without looking too obvious it works wonders Just dress accordingly .Its all about confidence ..live for the moment .

Honestly I found the best thing is to tell a few of my close friends. They all took it really well and are always inquisitive and willing to talk about it. It helped a lot but it's definately a scary step

When I started out I didn’t have the internet and I found it hard to understand my urges to dress. I used to dress in private until my stash got found and my stepdad hit me for it.

Moving forward a few years and the internet was growing in popularity and I found a website which had all ready been mentioned beginning TVCH** dot com. I search for local people and chatted to a girl who lived near me. She was the first one to see me dressed and helped me with makeup. She then told me about a TV club night 30+ miles away that she went to. I ended up going and meeting people.

By searching on that website I found a local support group which was brilliant just to chat to liked minded people and it didn’t matter if you was dressed up or in your male clothes.

I moved up to Yorkshire and eventually got to go to Leeds First Friday (LFF), again it is a night out in Leeds, people are really friendly and accepting. I am actually quite pissed off that I haven’t been able to get the for 3 months! I miss the company but Work is getting in my way.

Best thing is to try the other website and search/chat to local people, see what events are on and venture out. It is the best thing that I have done.

As Lilly said, I had decades of deep shame, being in constant fear of being found out. I had some therapy and the suggestion was to just tell people to defuse the fear. They thought I’d be surprised at the reaction. Admittedly I have a pretty open minded bunch of friends but without exception, men and women alike, they all pretty much took it in their stride. Some were pleased I felt able to be so,open with them, one girl burst into tears saying how bad she felt I’d been living in fear. Obviously the OP knows their friends better than me but I thought I’d throw in my experience.
