beliefs?

Been having a conversation with my husband, we are both church goers, and were talking about how people feel about their beliefs and swinging, do they clash?

Are there any other church goers out there, and how do they see it? Or anyone for that matter?

This came from chatting to a couple we have just started chatting to from here and with a mistype which lead to conversation about going to church (and not winding us up)

Just curious about other peoples thoughts

Well I'm not particularly religious, the school I went to was C of E... I'm pretty sure that swinging and religion don't agree with eachother, but you are church goers as you say and seem happy to swing...

oooo, theology, i love it!

As an atheist (well, possibly daeist as I believe in the POSSIBILITY of a higher power), my own beliefs are based on general right and wrong, therefore if what you are doing has no adverse effect on anybody there is no issue.

Obviously, there are the 10 Commandments, assuming you are of some form of Christian denomination, and swinging does contradict one pretty big one in there!

However, as the various denominations of the Christian faith took various teachings and elements from the Bible and made them their own, discarding what didn't fit in with their lifestyles at the time, then its very difficult to know what could be classed as right or wrong in the church you attend.

My view is, if there was a god then there would not be child abuse, rape, murder, famine or war. or does he just like watching that shit?

hmmm religion and swinging ? well for me i wouldnt say im a regular down at my church but i go prob works out about once every six weeks , more just to think about myself and my life hear other peoples views and talk , sounds very self indulgent srry , but it does not clash for me , im not doing any harm and have never been one for the sex before marriage malarky , its human nature sex and an enjoyable experience , so no its not an issue for me .

The way we see it,if God has given you all these feelings,ways and chances to enjoy yourselves,we reckon he'd be pretty miffed if you didn't make the most of them.

Also,the Bible was written by men,its their interpretation of what you should do not Gods.

The main thing that would probably go against the grain would be if you were hurting others which your not.

What your doing is giving pleasure and loving your fellow man/woman which is what its all about.

regarding the post on all the bad things that go on in the world (wars, rape, child abuse etc etc).....i believe that we were created to be all good and also given the tools to self regulate......society has its consequences for when someone becomes dysfunctional.....maybe the consequences are not harsh enough to deter future acts.........but unfortunately a few rotten apples slip through the net............and we are all on fab.....ha ha

I guess your talking about adultry. Which is completely different to swaping partners for sex.

The trouble with the bible (not ready any others) people take it literary rather than the meaning of the message, is it only on the road to Damascus's can you help a stranger or can you help them anywhere?

Not forgetting, some things have slipped into the bible, what are good practises in the middle east, bit not so good elsewhere. Pigs, lovely, just couldn't live in bible land.

Course in some religions you can now starve your wife if you have to go more than 4 days without her letting you have fun with her.

I don't think that religion and women sit well, all a means to suppress women and let men be top man.

Actually, I believe there are about 146, give or take.

Someone professor decided to actually read just about everything there was to read about the Christian faith, and was surprised to find that the Bible is actually about a fourth edition, much edited from the origional source information.

This guy had no axe to grind, and was purely in it from a curiosity/knowledge point of view.

It actually shows Christianity in about the same light as is generally thought today.

I personally dont believe in God, but find myself in the unusual position of wishing that there was some form of higher being to believe in, anyone know what that might be categorised as?

For now, I tend to admire those in history, or perhaps even modern day, who's actions, motives and moral stance go towards making the world a better place, even if it is on a very small scale.

Well if God forgives sinners then yes.Im not religous at all and am vary of religion so these and just thoughts not my beliefs.

I think that the person asking for forgivness actually has to repent, to be, deep down in their "soul", really sorry for what has happened.

God asked Jesus to try lots of drugs to help him understand modern man.. He asked his disciples to each find a drug and bring it too him.. Mark Bought some .. Mathew some lsd.. Andrew some .. Judas.. well Judas bought in the drug squad lol....

Well, have been reading thru this thread....and believe it or not...I once had my place booked at Bible College and was destined to do grat things in the Methodist Church....and none of it involved the spinsters of the parish!!!!

Then, just before packing my bags and heading off...I was thrown out of my church!!!!...Bloody Cheek

Anyway....made me take a good long look at how I felt....And I am no longer a Bible Thumping, Sandal Wearing God Botherer! I was cured!!!!!

Now....am of the opinion that we live in a morality based society that has it's foundation in the Bible....this has been foisted on us, and enforced by the church...and then the state.

I think that as long as what people do is not hurting them, or hurting anyone else...and is not breaking the law..then they should be left alone to get on with it.

It is not up to us to judge them, and it is not up to us to be the voice of their concsience. It is up to them to reconcile themselves and live with what they do.

unfortunately this is why the world is so fuked up. Religion (if followed to the letter of the scriptures) dictates that fairly obviously swinging and its related 'risque' practices dont go together. next we will have muslim pole dancers ffs, cos the koran saidit was ok... wot a crock of shit...

Well im not religous or anything else but surely if you believe in god enough to go to church you should follow the rules. Sorry but it sounds hypercritical to me too believe in something yet still do as you like. Being baptized a religion is one thing, following it is another.

Now i have different views about gays as i believe your born gay but people arnt born swingers.

Im not having a personal dig just my views

The Church makes loads of money from the Hell theory based on a Book that may or may not have been written 2000 years ago - and the member has even hidden her profile and what is she doing on this site anyway if she disapproves.......she could always try the missionary position!!!
