Not sure what my issue is, I get serious pain in my hip bum back area after only walking say 400yards

It’s so bad I have to stop and take a rest

Can anyone share some light on this??

Go to the doctors then you can get a proper diagnosis, not just a fab one

Although it sounds like sciatica you need a doctor to diagnose you. Try Ibuprofen for relief until you see a doctor. It's a bastard when you have pain, so have it looked at by a pro.

Having tight muscles in the hips and bum can cause many back problems.

With muscular injuries, it’s good to keep the area warm by movement and stretch out the surrounding muscles.

does it feel like muscle pain? could be bone pain and you may need a new hip

The doctor told me my pain is not synonymous with hip issues, hip problems tend to be felt in the groin so he claimed

it does sound very much like it could be sciatica..maybe if it carries on try asking for an MRI..i was told pain exactly as you describe was probably a bit of arthritis for about 3 years before discovering it was sciatica..

"The doctor told me my pain is not synonymous with hip issues, hip problems tend to be felt in the groin so he claimed"

He is correct.

Hips refer pain into your groin and sometimes inner thigh towards your knee..not your butt.

Perhaps ask a physio / osteo to check..Drs don't normally have the time to do a full assessment.

Osteopath diagnosed me & is able to treat me much better than my GP so I would echo this. I have inflamed SI joints (Sacro Illiac) which is where the backnof your pelvis joins your spine & the pain sounds similar to mine when I get a flare up. Exercise & stretches are the only real option along with ditching the heels & taking ibuprofen when needed. When it’s really bad, a couple of sessions with the Osteo really help.

Good luck x

I get it too, but I'm hypermobile (very double jointed) I'd recommend going to see a chiropractor and check how flexible the rest of you is. X

From what you're saying it could be your sacroiliac joint x

Try doing a good glute and hamstring stretch if it’s muscle related they will be the ones to work on

Sciatica is a symptom

Ive suffered wirh my back recently..

My gp initially prescribed some painkillers

Refered me for an assessment to a physio.

Had an MRI scan

I eventually had a caudal epidural at the base of my spine (steroids) ..which gave me tremendous relief ...

You must go back to your gp

Good luck .

I get back pain occasionally.....and my massage therapist just sticks his elbow in my glutes for half an hour.....he is amazed how much pressure I can take....most people would be screaming.....but then I am a slight masochist.....ha ha

It is worth it though......half hour of extreme pain.....for pain free back for 6 weeks

My friend is here and she's a professional sports physio this is her advice ... you need to go to your doctor and insist on a) a proper diagnosis not a 'it's muscular with a referral to whomever can help and b) proper pain relief

Key words to use are I can't work and I can't sleep

But don't except being fobbed off, if he can't give you help ask for a referral

Yoga is amazing for back pain. The relief doesn't last for long (a few days) but you'll fell better after

This above, get a roller on it also.

hamstring stretches help.

Um ... you do need to see a professional ... a physiotherapist, sports therapist or osteopath. It's not really possible to assess without actually seeing you.

Not always true....we have a son who has a hip disease (since a young age) and he's only ever had pain from it in his knees, lower back and butt

Best to go back and see your gp if things don't settle

Go and get checked out by an osteopath or chiropractor.

I had a burning sensation across my lower back, and in my calves, and it was all postural.

I had some adjustments and some massages and it really helped.

You can usually get a good deal on groupon too!

I have very similar symptoms to the op. Only mine are left sided. Gp just fobbed me off with useless painkillers. Osteopath helped a little. For me standing up us worse than walking.

Be good to hear if you get the GP to take you seriously.

Both Curcumin and Serrapeptase both have great anti-inflammatory properties and may help over time. Google their benefits and if you think either (or both) would help pm us as we sell both!

Try an osteopath or chiropractor. They will look at the alignment of your spine and give you more answers. Worked great for me. Loosened up my muscles which had almost seized up. Improved flexibility as well.

Good luck.

I cannot believe the private message I have had today, been told by a couple in Glasgow you haven’t got hips so it will be back strain!

Excuse me? No hips?

How the hell are my legs joined to my torso?

And why does my doctor from january tell me he had a HIP replacement, and why am I having my hips X-rayed

And why does my GP think I have arthritis in my HIP joint

Some people should just mind their own business, sorry I don’t like being annoyed but blooming heck so two doctors are wrong and I should listen to someone who obviously knows more than the british medical system

I’m the same, suffered with it for 16 years and this cold weather makes it worse. I’ve just been given painkillers by the drs for years as they can’t find a cause for the pain. It’s in my bones, I can tell, all in my hips and lower back. Hope you find an answer or solution soon! Nothing worse than being in pain

It could be Sacroiliac Dysfunction, or just a muscle issue causing your muscles to compensate.

I'm no physio, but I have suffered with an issue with my L4 that caused the disc to herniate. The only thing that stopped the pain was an epidural.

I feel for you, and good luck sorting it out.

Why can’t it be arthritis? Ask for an MRI that may show more than an x-ray.

Some stretches may help to ease your hip/back pain.

Do you wear heels a lot? This may be throwing your back out of alignment.

If it is sciatica, I really feel your pain. Have had it for over 30 years now on and off. Having had pain killers, traction, physio, stretches, even a specially made corset, the only thing that worked for me was acupuncture. Had 6 sessions 17 years ago and apart from odd twinge it has been fine.
