Receiving Underwhelming Face Pics

Hi guys, first time in the forum and I have a query for you all - when someone sends you a face picture and you don't fancy them how do you react?

Myself and the other half have been discussing this and the possible options we can't decide between are:

1) Ignore the message and hope they catch on.

2) Delete the message and/or block them.

3) Tell them politely you don't find them attractive and risk hurting their feelings.

4) Return the favour with a face pic of yourself and try to politely end the conversation some other way.

We can never decide what the best thing to do is! What do you guys do?.... And if you were the one sending the pictures what would you want someone to do in these circumstances?

Thanks!!

P.S. We are by no means 'up ourselves' and fully accept that there are probably plenty of folks that wouldn't like our face pictures too. Just wondering what the consensus on this topic is!

I really struggle with saying thanks but no thanks, fortunately Red has no problem and is usually polite but to the point. There's no point leading people on after all.

I like this too! It's tricky because this has happened a few times and the last thing we want to do is make people feel shitty but then we don't want to waste their time either.

I would prefer you returned a face pic and just said sorry not really our type but good luck and thanks. That would be the politest way, especially if the person has been putting the effort in.

In reality most just delete message but again if you exchanged a few messages and such it's a bit harsh.

If someone blocked me, I'd be thinking they recognised me or something. Which isn't a comfortable feeling.

I tell them 'sorry, not my type', a small percentage will abuse you but they are easily blocked. That is until they get you on fabguys too, even though you said no.

We’ve come across the same issue, people messaging and then when you get pictures the attraction just isn’t there.

We go for your option 3 and personalise the message a bit so it’s not too formal or feels like a copy and paste. Usually along the lines of thanking them for the pic but saying the attraction isn’t really there for us, and wish them luck.

It’s only fair to let somebody know, especially if they’ve shared a face pic, and not just disappear. And unless you plan on taking one for the team to save someone’s feelings then the sooner you deal with it the better.

Great profile pics by the way OP

tbh we just dont contact people if they have no face pics for this very reason.

Consequently we seldom meet as a direct consequence of this ere site and attend clubs regularly.

For us we go through talking on here then in the phone and then face pics. If we get the face pics and we are not to keen we just reply with ours with the message like others are saying not our type. We prefer frank as it’s better than leading people on. We have had said to us that not our type by people. we are all grown ups even though it’s not nice saying it’s better than radio silence or blocking

It depends on whether they've sent the pic unsolicited in an opening message, or after some dialogue has taken place.

If it's unsolicited we have no qualms about simply deleting and blocking. We haven't asked for a pic.

If there's been some dialogue before the face pic then it's only polite to be honest.

Nobody should take offence if you don't fancy them, just as you shouldn't take offence if they don't fancy you.

I find that when I'm not the type for a woman or couple they simply either don't reply and delete- which don't get me wrong, is fine, as I understand they must receive many, many messages compared to a single male.

But those that do reply say thanks for the message but you are not for us, happy swinging. And that is fine, doesn't upset me or anything, as I know you need that attraction. And I too reply with the same thing if I don't find the attraction there.

Of course, be prepared for those that can't take rejection and may get abusive- then just hit the block button and think nothing of it.

Some really good replies here folks, it's interesting to see different people's perspectives. It seems most prefer to be told gently rather than left in the dark which is understandable I guess!

One thing we worry about is offending people who we may later bump into at a party or a club - but I guess that would be far more awkward if you'd blocked them

Hot topic though by the look of things...! Like most people discretion is key for us so we don't even put face pics in our private gallery, they only get sent once we're chatting to someone so I guess we always run the risk of sending them to someone who isn't feeling it!

We never answer a message unless they have sent us a face pic with first message anyway so we don't get to the stage of building up a confo only to have to say no.

If we do however get a face pic with a first message and we're not keen we always look for another reason to say no as wouldn't like to add to making someone start feeling self conscious or something.

Assuming we had been chatting and it was going well to the point we swapped photos....

I treat people as I myself would like being treated. I've had to tell people "sorry, you're not my type, wish you the best of luck" and would appreciate the same as opposed to ignoring outright or unceremoniously blocking...that is immature and quite frankly, cowardly

We wouldn't send a face picture back to some one we have no intention of meeting after seeing theirs. We're lucky in some ways to be a couple because we can say our partner has seen the picture and, on reflection, they're not for us...no need for any further interaction. If they send anything else, we just delete and/or block. No drama

My hubs goes mad about this but I would like the same response if I wasn’t someone’s type... Honesty is always the best policy, personally we don't send face pics back if there's no attraction , I know it seems more fair to send them but if you get a nutter that can't take the rejection it could become problematic.

To be honest most of the time we send out pics it's more in hope than anything else, so we're not surprised or upset when the conversation goes no further, I mean we're bloody gorgeous and everything but a four way attraction is incredibly hard to find through pics and messages alone, in the flesh is a different matter though lol

Absolutely agree. We have noticed that many of the people who just block or don’t reply. They’re generally the fairly popular types who’ve had a few meets so we don’t reckon they are cowards. Mostly ignorant and rude as you are of no use to them once they know they are not meeting you

I have a lot of experience with this as I'm very ugly. It's always better to not receive a reply.

Telling me something I already know adds salt to the wound. It's like saying:

"Thanks for the message Smithter, but you're unattractive so I won't be meeting you"

That really hurts unfortunately.

We just say a polite " Sorry you aren't for us" and move on.

In fairness we always try to reply but when the first message has a cock pic attached it wouldn't matter if it was Mr Universe on the other end, its an instant "No thanks"

"Hi guys, first time in the forum and I have a query for you all - when someone sends you a face picture and you don't fancy them how do you react?

"thankyou for the photos, however on this occasion there is no mutual attraction but we wish you every success in your ventures on Fab"

"

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you combine honesty with tact...

Agreed! We usually say something like this but always worry about how it will be received

I think it’s much better to politely decline than to just ignore the person who has contacted you.

Bit late to pick this up, but figured I was asked.

If someone has asked for my crime watch pics, I would feel it's only polite to return the same regardless of the outcome. Maybe I'm antiquated and outmoded.

Don't have a conversation until you’ve seen a face pic?

My standard reply is: "Thanks for your message and photo, but unfortunately not my type.

Happy swinging, x"

Thank you for the flattering attention but I’m afraid I’m not attracted, I hope you find what you’re looking for soon, happy fabbing

Or something along those lines unless they’re rude, then it’s either a block or pass

‘Face Pic Friday’ in the forum is a great way to test drive your latest face pic I find, as people you’re likely to never meet will be honest in their reaction to the pic you send, and quite often, you’ve just taken a ‘poor’ selfie

We always reply with our face pictures regardless as I really do see it as only fair, some of our best meets have been with people who aren’t necessarily our type but who we have got on really well with. If neither the attraction nor the spark is there then we just let the conversation tail off naturally.

Option 5. Give your address and invite for tea, just to be sure it wasn't taken by a poor photographer.

If it's clear that it could not work, ever, then it's better to put them out of their misery, in a sensitive manner and throw in a free block.

A lot of people i know who are attractive look much less attractive in photos - so i have some caution. Seeing them chat live may give a more certain view.
