I'm having a small issue with patchy dry skin all over my body which is stopping me from arranging meets and getting me down.

Is there anyone else in the same boat ?

Yeh I don't think it's anything to worry about. I use to have eszema 25 years ago but this is different

I've tried 3 different over the counter creams over the last 3 months but no joy.

Yes I have eczema and a fb had psoriasis, it can be embarrassing I know, but you'll find other people aren't that bothered x

I do too, I react to loads of foods, drives me mad. As a kid it was just milk that set it off x avoiding gluten and wheat is a nightmare, it's hidden in all sorts and a lot of the alternative breads etc are truly vile x

I've had similar around my lower legs for some time, I find just ordinary baby oil helps a lot.

Perhaps it's worth going to see a dermatologist Op?

I know Eperderm I have a whole chemist of creams in my household (a son having severe ezcema)

One thing I've found is using porridge oats baths or as a wash can help just sooth the skin for a short while.

Or try using cool black tea as a wash (tea has natural antihistamines in it)

I've in the past had to wet-wrap my son for a week due to a horrendous flare up.

It could also be worth asking for a skin prick test to establish if there is anything in your diet that could be causing your skin to continue with this.

Since no one on here knows what it looks like or the potential diagnosis I suggest going to see your GP for a diagnosis mate. Eczema and Psoriasis are benign and easily treated but there are other conditions that can resemble this that needs a medical opinion especially if you've had it for 3 weeks and it's not improving whatever you try. It may need steroid cream or other prescription only medication. There are GP services that operate online so you can speak with one over skype and show them your bits. Good luck buddy.

I (Mr) used to have excema on my hands and elbow joints really badly in my early twenties.

Turned out it was a combination of materials at work and the sheer amount of alcohol i consumed..so i wore gloves and switched beers

My point is untill you can be diagnosed look at what you have done differently recently with regards to things to come in contact with your skin.

OP your skin condition won't put many people off, it's just your own body confidence that's stopping you.

Get to your GP and if necessary ask for a referral to a dermatologist. They will be able to diagnose your condition and prescribe treatments to help. It may not be a curable condition but you can find help to live with it.

I have a little known skin condition called hidradenitis suppurativa which is incurable. No treatments have helped me so far and I just try to live with it. I have lots of scars from my condition but I try not to let them worry me too much. If I let them affect my life i would never get my kit off

if it is exzema based then you may want to see if your doctor will prescribe "dermol" for you....

it is a slight higher based cream which is great on skin and can be used as either a lotion or a shower cream...

slight correction... it can now be bought over the counter... it is slighty cheaper to get it via prescription....

I suffer from psoriasis very badly n yes it’s put me off having meets as it’s made me self conscious n embarrassed but everyone I’ve met it hasn’t bothered them a bit some say they didn’t even notice it n have been so nice about it , it wouldn’t put me off meeting anyone with it x

i've had psoriasis for years, its gradually disappearing now, but see your doc! contrary to what a couple of people have said it is not easily treated at all...but get a proper diagnosis, because if it is that, then you need much more specific treatment than just moisturisers. it may just be contact dermatitis from something you've reacted to, that can last weeks after whatever it was has set it off, but that will also respond to short term steroids a lot quicker than just keeping it moisturised. Go to your Doc! i really dont think anyone cannot get an appointment in 3 months! It will put your mind at rest, worrying about it will only make you feel more self concious. good luck

I have psoriasis and I swear by a mix of lush dream cream and Holland and Barrett aloe Vera gel. Plus lush sleepy cream helps me zonk x

No don't get E45 its rubbish get doublebase gel its behind the counter but you get 500g pump for £10. Well it was that price when i got it.

It could be the cold weather and central heating causing a flare up extra moisturiser is key x

It sounds like psoriasis I have suffered with it since I was younger. It always flares up at this time of year and when stressed. Dovobet is what I use to help sooth it but that prescription only I think as it’s a steroid cream. When I first had at 14 years old 90% of my body was covered in it and spent a lot of sessions under a sun lamp as that helps to cure it. Hope this helps

If you're struggling to get an appointment with your GP, talk to a pharmacist, often they can help with minor ailments.

Oilatum emollient is good for dry skin conditions, also putting good old fashioned oats in your bath might help too (tie a cup full us in an stocking or thin sock, hang under the hot tap as the bath is running and use to bathe the skin, like you would a sponge ~ that's naturally good for the skin whatever the problem is).

The most amazing thing to bathe in for dry skin is porridge oats. Inside a tied up stocking (or cut off tight). Feels like a ball of moisturiser but very gentle.

A friend of mine suffers from really bad patches of dry skin like this and as well as using usual prescribed creams ( steroid when really bad ) goes on a sunbed just once a week and has noticed a big difference in how her skin is feeling . My son also has eczema and is always worse this time of year being covered up alot but when its sunny his skin is perfect , obviously i won't let him on a sunbed though .... I know it's not for everyone using sunbed but if you are open to it might be worth a try . Xx

This. If hydrocortisone doesn't fix it then what you have is something to go see a GP about. That stuff will fix everything short of broken bones lol

A few years ago I had a very bad flare up of psoriasis on the chest and abdomen which made me very self conscious about meets so can sympathize. My skin cleared up but it did look very unsightly

Sounds like seborrhoeaic dermatitis (spelling?), had it on my scalp a while back and it was an absolute nightmare - I got prescribed a special shampoo for it at the gp (it's like a fungus or something), head and shoulders didn't help, tried putting oil on it, but that just made the dry skin flake off and caused red patches instead of dryness - hope this helps

There are many different products out there. Some very expensive stuff too. However without knowing what the OP's condition is we could all recommend our personsal favourite. Now that may be as effective as recommending rubbing lard all over your body.

Best to see your GP who can prescribe something appropriate for you, and importantly monitor it's effectiveness.

Failing getting a doctor's appointment try and see if you can find a walk in centre somw where, you'll wait ages but you'll be seen. Also see if you can find a badger/out of hours clinic that you can go to "
phone 111 they can get you an appointment at walk in - be sure to dress itsrealky getting you down etc x

Also have you just bought the creams or asked them to have a look in the pharmacy? We get asked all the things me so there is no need for embarrassment!

Is the skin itchy or sore or just dry? X

try Dermol babe, it has an anti pruritic in it! I get such itchy legs in the winter months - this is really calming x
