People getting hung up on block

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

Over the months, threads appear where someone gets hung up about being blocked 'for no reason'.

Block is a harsh word, it's more of a case of 'not compatible' button.

We try to make Fab personal to us. We view profiles and they view us. But some/many don't match our preferences or expectations and rather than clicking on them again in the future, wasting each other's time again, we hit the not compatible (block) button. No malice, ill feeling or negativity; just to personalise Fab for us.

Reasons are :

1 - They say not meeting, just viewing.

2 - Not in age range.

3 - Wrong sexual orientation.

4 - Crude and/or badly worded profile.

5 - Prince Albert, heavily tattooed / piercings etc..

6 - Distance too great.

7 - Can't accommodate (guys).

8 - Poor communication.

9 - Desperate in their messages.

10 - Laissez faire effort.

And no doubt some others.

Why post this? Taking a coffee break from working at home!

The people doing the complaining don't seem to get that there's always a reason they are blocked. They may not know the reason, but that doesn't mean there isn't one!!

You wouldn't think it was so hard to understand.

We think they feel hard done by and take it personally. If we don't tick the preference boxes of some profiles, I hope they too block us.

There's always a reason for blocking someone, it can be just as simple as not wanting to see that person's profile again.

I never understand why people moan about being blocked, it's like "Those people have no interest in me at all, oh boo hoo, woe is me, poor me, poor me!". Just get over yourself and move on

Is that when it hits 1000 or something as I have hundreds on mine!

You/I are too far, you are not looking for single blokes and I’m not into larger women.....who should block who first?

OP I agree with what you’re saying here. I’ve blocked profiles I’ve viewed that just haven’t taken my fancy once I’ve read and looked properly. I’m sure many have me blocked also, none of us will appeal to everyone, those who get blocked should move along... why chase when there’s nothing to be had!

Have to admit I’m not keen on blocking or being blocked as I believe it closes doors. We tend to automatically say to no to everybody because we have enough to be getting on with regarding playmates and we don’t have time for anything more. We also might say no because the profile doesn’t appeal at that moment in time. But in the future who knows? How embarrassing would it be to meet someone in a club, hit it off and discover we’ve blocked them or they’ve blocked us? And beside I think there’s more to Fab than finding people to meet, so we’re not going to block just because we don’t want to meet them, or they don’t want to meet us - we’d have nobody to chat to on the forums and no pics to perve at or people to fab our pictures if we did that!

You can't block people on the forums, you can only block them from seeing your profile and privately messaging you.

I’ve received a 24 hour ban from the forums for responding to a post of someone who had blocked us. So if someone has blocked us I know I’m not allowed to directly respond to their posts.

The forum is open to all. You are allowed to respond to posts of people who block you. It is attempting to get round a block to contact them that is the ban offence.

It’s open to interpretation. If they decide to report there’s not much that I can do to argue and saying that I was only contributing to the discussion.

But you must contribute to discussions. Block is to stop people giving abuse or annoying people by pm essentionally. If someone has blocked someone because they don't think they are compatible it doesn't stop them welcoming that same person contributing to a light hearted forum topic about favourite colour for example. Or at least I wouldn't have thought.
