You can give someone a ring that isn't an engagement ring.

You can give someone a collar that doesn't signify commitment.

But you should proberbly check in both of those cases if you're the one being given the present.

I didn't say that it couldn't. And equally a wedding ring means more than a collar to many.

The point was - it might have a meaning and it might not. Clarify with the person you're exchanging gifts with.

If nothing was said when the collar was given then I'd assume the person giving the collar thinks they look nice and nothing more.

Anything else is usually agreed between both parties and there are many different types of collar with many different meanings. If that was the route chosen by the people involved.

Not always, I expressed an interest in a slut collar once on the other fetish lifestyle site, and my friends Dom at the time bought it me as a gift, a piece of jewellery. No strings attached.

But if a Dom/me is wanting to give you a collar it's best to discuss what exactly it means to them and you.
