Advice please

Don't want to be rude but every time I log on within 1 min I receive a message from the same guy who asks me what I'm doing, where I'm going - two hours later it's an update on what he's doing etc. Thus goes in right through the day; I genuinely hate being rude as he's a nice guy but I don't want to ever meet him.

Should I use the block button or just ignore all his greetings?

Tanya

Have now blocked but I'm not a fan of it if it's someone who is just friendly. I always feel it can seem like a knockback for a guy and dent someone's confidence. However I genuinely don't feel like a lot of small chat at the minute so probably best decision.

Thanks folks x

Not exactly a no tho. Make it very clear if he's not for you. If he still messages then block. No drama needed.

Some people categorically say stay in touch or I will delete you as a friend or block you or whatever. Some people hate too much interaction. Getting the balance right can be difficuilt.

I would say you needed to be more direct in that you wern't interested in meeting and didn't want to continue with chit that. And then if he continued then block him.

I see the point of others saying block to save him getting nasty with you. It's a tough one.

Mute point as you have already blocked.

Oh boy I'm familiar with this, have had it from both guys and girls.

OP, from my experience, I'm not sure there's any way you could have dealt with this that wouldn't have resulted in some sort of backlash or bad feeling.

With pushy people like that, its highly unlikely that they will take any rejection in a mature way. With some people, no matter how kindly you decline, and no matter what the reason, a stock reply they will consistently give is "you're shallow!"

Even though they themselves are only interested in you for your looks etc.

I agree with the poster who said they're needy and insecure. I would also add that they tend to have an extreme sense of entitlement too.

There's no way this kind of thing won't end in ugly bad feelings from the other person, but I've had to learn the hardest way in the end it really is their problem. Which is harsh I know... But not as harsh as what those emotional vampires would do to you if given an inch.

Anyone agree or disagree? Would like feedback cos I'm just trying to do the best I know his to at the time. Peace.

The member will now probably rejoin under another name and continue to do so each time you block him. I’ve had that and it’s horrible.

It’s going too far when a man does this to a woman! Horrible!

Hope you are ok.

Oh... That was long.

To answer the question, I don't know. I've done it all - been kind and honest = rarely goes well. I feel this is the bravest and best way but takes emotional effort.

Just ignored = They go away eventually but I always feel a bit guilty like its a cop out. I've done this one most often tbh.

Blocked = Same. Rarely done this. Might end up with a thread with them saying "I was chatting with someone, it was going great, then suddenly I was blocked. What gives?" Well I guess you know why now after reading this why that probably happens?

"But they should have just said they weren't interested!"

While I understand, come on now, if you're honest you would probably have kicked off when you realised this person wasn't going to spend their life feeding you and your emotional food source was now being cut off. Dude/girl you gotta be responsible for your own happiness.

OK that's enough for now, this is a bit of a sore topic... What do you mean "yeah it shows?!!" :0

To be honest I can see both sides but from a males point of view I know women get so many messages that some rarely see the ones I send even the regular women I talk to so sometimes the only way to get them to see one of your messages is to get them as soon as you see they're online by checking your friends or hotlist. Yes people are using this in a creepy way but not all, there can be genuine reasons for it. I can't say the same for everyone but I do know that's why I sometimes do it, however if you've had no previous correspondence with the female then yes that is super creepy.

I wouldn't be surprised to log on one day to: "I smell smoke, there's a crackling sound and my toes are getting warm. I think my house is on fire, should I call the fire brigade, I don't want to waste their time".

Still amazes me the things adults ask advice on.

You don't have to explain shit!

After first message if your so inclined thank for message, say not interested and wish him well.

If another message receive ignore/block...end of drama and angst. Trust me, it really is that simple!
