When is a good time to ask for a face picture ?

I understand privacy and discretion but it does feel only fair.

Whenever you want. It's then up to the recipient if they feel comfortable enough to send one.

It's not unusual to be asked in a first message. No chance. If I did that I'd just put one on my profile!

Tricky one this, everyone seems to have a different idea of when is the best time. You need to decide for yourself how long you are prepared to invest in messaging the other person without seeing what they look like.

I have never met without seeing one. Saying that I have talked a while to people who I have still no clue what they look like. I enjoy chatting so I would never see it has wasted time. Do need to see one before confirming meeting though.

I tend to have one or two face pics on here when I'm online. It amazes me just how many couples on here don't actually seem to have a pic of them both together though...lol

If you feel it only fair because you have a face pic on, you might want to reconsider having one up?

I feel no need to send a pic right away (or at all) simply because some insist they have the right to see me just because they have shown themselves.

For me, I don't like my pictures--though some make me look pretty good (!!!), I don't think they look much like me at all.

Maybe I'm shy.

Ask when you want one, but don't expect everyone to be forthcoming on your schedule. We all have our reasons for sending pics (or not).

I think early on, if initial messaging suggests a connection. ‘The Great Face Reveal’ is rather exciting....., shows interest and a degree of trust. Then there’s the possibility of the face being all you wished for or perhaps one you’d rather not see!

Would only "consider" sending a face pic when I had built up a certain level of trust. I meet a lot of people through work and wouldn't want to be identified by just anyone on here. It's not just cause I'm a minger....honest

But if it's a deal breaker for you then you move onto someone who will send one sooner. I've been sent loads and always appreciate them and say thanks.

I generally won't even reply to a first message without seeing a face pic, unless I have no intention of meeting or it is not likely. Too many assume a reply, even if it is just to a general question, is a green light

Same here! With us, it depends on how excited we feel by the other couple. If their profile has ticked all our boxes then we would probably send a face pic with the first message. That's rare though. Other times its been after a bit of back and forth to where we feel a connection with them and can trust them.

Interestingly, we seem to receive a fair few face pic-less messages from couples who's profile demands that one be included in any initial message....

I have thought about it a few times....but Mr is the voice if reason and reminds me of the risks until we are 100% sure.

I try to send a face and bodyssey pic quickly.

That way I know if I'm their type or not.

I don't mind chatting but I like to know where I stand.

You can say something like: 'Great profile pic(s), would love to see more of you.' That way you'd know what the other person is willing to share at that point in time. It depends on the person and circumstances, there is no general rule.

If I can tell the person is genuine after some back and forth messaging and I think they may want to take things further that is when I will send a face pic, if they send one in return that is up to them but I will not ask for one. I don't think there is a specific time just when the time is right.

Does that mean you meet with your faces covered up otherwise as soon as you meet the people you’ve been talking to your no longer discreet they’ve seen your faces totally understand that people don’t know who they are talking to and if there local then it could be someone you know but that doesn’t change and they would know you on a meet. It would be very awkward to meet someone without a face picture only to find they really are not your type unless you do a social only for first meet. We ask for a face pic with first message ours in public so people would no if they know us and if they wanted to take things further so we wouldn’t reply to a faceless profile or message. But to the op question everyone is different and use this site in different ways.

What we do is exchange mobile numbers or use the message system on fab. Then we send a message where we are sitting/standing and what we're wearing.

This is rocket science isn't it !!! Never had a problem.

Or you can send a face pic, then they can go quiet, they may recognise you. The face pic, if they send you one, could be a copied one off the net.

If you want to send a face pic, do it. If you don't want to meet because they won't send you one, no problem. Anyone want our face pic, no chance, but we'll meet you in a pub.

People struggle with a basic concept, strange.

If you send a face pic, they have your face. You run the risk of sending it to someone who recognises you; an ex, your boss, the supermarket cashier, your hair dresser. So they go quiet on you, or they're just a pic hunter. If you get one back, is it them?

Now, if you plan to meet and you message them where you are sat etc.. if you recognise one another, neither is gonna tell anyone else your secret.

Now, if that doesn't concern you, or you are not bothered, go for it. Unfortunately, some of us have family and friends that we don't wish them to know the lifestyle that we lead.

Some people wish to be discreet. Sending your mug shot deceives that object. It's VERY OBVIOUS to us.

My Mr says the people we meet might be far away so a face pic may be safe to send but always remember the internet is right on your doorstep therefore face pics can be abused. We never ever send face pics. It quites adds to the excitement really. *Mrs
