Mistress for 8 years

In amongst the Unicorns & fairy dust

As the title says I was a mistress to a guy that I really thought was my. Soul mate for nearly 8 years

Gullibly I thought he would be mine if I waited.

After 6 months no contact because he has health issues he doesn’t want me involved ,,, I’m just in a type of void ( vacuum ) really ,,, we were on here so long together and my confidence is ripped x

8 years waiting/hoping for a married man to leave his wife for you? And only now he's telling you he's not interested? Gosh, he's definitely had his cake and eaten it hasn't he?

I feel for you but after 6 months of no contact have you not started to feel even a teeny bit better about the situation?

After nearly 15 years married, when I got health issues I kept my wife at arms length due to fear.

Fear of illness, fear of death, fear of being diminished as a man. It took a couple of years to work through it fully.

All you can do is let him know you're there if he needs it, but also make sure you look after yourself and prepare for a different life.

In a way, his illness is harder on you than it is him.

Thank you for your lovely words everyone ,,, I miss him more as a great friend ,,, long story short we got together 8 years ago through Work ,, we have always been the best for eachother but his mother will never understand what soul mates are about and what WE felt , she won

Been in a similar situation op and it sucks big time. You can't just turn your feelings off like a tap.

I am starting to move on now but it's still hard when the 'what if' s' creep in and you think of what could have been.

It’s a long time and it’s so hard when you have a ‘connection’ I totally get it.

Feel sad, don’t bottle it up... but open up the potential to meet others... it’s too easy to miss out on people when your heart is with someone like this xxx

Sending hugs, OP, heartbreak is always horrible whatever the circumstances of who dumped who, how it happened, or whether you were "official"/mistress or whatever. Be gentle on yourself x

I am the male onsite -similar situation as you -started off as as swinging but turned to love -It finished 4 rears ago and she is still in my thoughts every day .Xx
