In the middle of a very busy month work wise. Working with a lot of stress has triggered a bit of anxiety and some physical symptoms in me last few days. Tight cramped stomach, at times I want to be alone and not speak to anyone. I have tried acupuncture which has helped in the past. Just wondered how others deal with intense stress periods and hope I am not alone x

No you won't be alone. I try to do something away from the house to get away from stress, or watch some light entertainment TV. To try to distract myself from the stress situation. I,m sure many members will give you some advice OP. XXX

Medication. Nothing regular just reactionary I take propranolol. It seems to work for me.

I was taking Valium in a similar way (just as and when) but I’ve managed without for quite a few months.

It’s all horrible and outwardly usually no signs so no one knows you’re having a crisis inside but can look okay outwardly

My biggest tip is to surround yourself by the right people and things that keep you up.

It hasn't helped that I have leant a friend at work 7 grand and asked for it to be returned and he is 4 weeks late. Lost trust in him for sure and in people in general. That plus busy work schedule is not a good combo. Confidence and self esteem very low at moment

Yeah. That’s why I say about surrounding yourself with the right people. Negative people induce a lot of stress and anxiety.

I’m afraid that old adage “neither a borrower or a lender be” has been my motto. And I have been asked by friends in the past and refused. I just think, if people need money they should go to a bank. If a bank won’t lend them, there’s a good reason why.

You were very trusting of him to lend him that much , hopefully you get it back , I find that trying to think positive thoughts helps , and try getting out side for a while or if not able to , try to go in a different room , also use a stress ball when you're feeling very stressed , or something else you can squeeze , also concentrate on making your breathing longer and blowing the stess away slowly

Don’t take any medication! You’ll learn to start depending on them as a way to get over things.

I nearly died 2 years ago and had severe PTSD. One thing I found that helped me with the anxiety was to be by myself, read about how I was feeling and read other’s similar experiences, and actually dedicate time to being anxious and feeling scared. I think when you give yourself that time it helps in a weird way.

When you get waves of severe anxiety, you have to really concentrate on those symptoms and when they dissipate, you should take note and the next time you have a knotted stomach, sweats and panics, just remind yourself that you have been through it before and that it will pass. For more general symptoms Iike not wanting to talk to people - what helped me was actually writing to people. I wrote emails, texts, WhatsApp’s etc to people close to me explaining how I felt. Just that process alone helps your brain to reorganise itself and gain a little perspective. It also lifts a weight off your shoulders

It’s also important that you set yourself dedicated times where you insist you don’t think about whatever it is that’s worrying you. Go for walks, go for a drive, watch a film. Try and distract yourself.

Over time you’ll have moments where you naturally start to let go of worry and you’ll think “oh I felt normal then” - it may only last a second or a minute or an hour, but gradually these moments will become more frequent and you’ll start to feel better and better, until you are eventually yourself again.

You aren’t alone dude. I know you can do it, and you’ll come out strong. Put yourself first for the next few weeks and give yourself time

I know it’s not much, but I hope this tiny bit of info helps you.

I take meds from the doc as my anxiety is pretty bad. I also supplement these meds with karms, rescue remedy spray and cbd oil.

I also meditate at night n if that fails I have a relaxing wank.

HULL

Don’t rely on meds’ as pointed out they can become addictive as they become less effective, try to work out what causes the anxiety easier said than done I know and I’m speaking from experience. In my male mode I have had an extremely stressful life for a long time and for me I discovered that my love for dressing also became my stress relief as I took on my other persona it’s not for all I know but try to find something that you like and enjoy to let the stress melt away beach or country walks are a great way to clear the mind

I certainly don’t want to get into any debate on the issue but not all medication is addictive and not all people are addicts.

Take medical advice on meds, not forum advice.

Your GP should be able to help. Otherwise find a low key activity to occupy your mind and try to switch off from whatever is stressing you. Read a book, watch a film.

Op I have tried a number of medications for this, Citalopram - Rubbish!! Propranolol - Even more rubbish!! Sertraline - absolutely fantastic, not addictive in the slightest either so don't be put off by people claiming addictions enless they are actually qualified doctors!! Speak to your gp, i have personally been subscribed these for very similar symptoms to yourself and they have worked an absolute treat.. good luck OP

Have you tried exercise or reading a book, sometimes watching a good film can take your mind off things.

Never lend anyone money you might never see it again.

Antidepressants can be prescribed for anxiety, like the SSRI citalopram, and these are not addictive. Something like diazepam, a benzodiazepine, is only prescribed short term as it is considered addictive. This medication loses its efficacy of dosage after a while and a higher dose required.

I agree with exercise but i wouldn't be cutting down on caffeine in a busy work month! Eat healthy (maybe you live near a sushi restaurant that delivers if you are too busy to cook) and jack off a lot.

Go see your doctor.

If you need Meds then take them. There's no shame in it.

Anxiety and depression can be caused by chemical inbalances where Meds are needed.

Marcus Aurelius' Meditations can work wonders for some. It's a very old book but it's helped to rebalance many over the centuries and is still used to this day as a self-help book. Better than pills, in my opinion anyway.

A caveat; obviously if there's physical symptoms go and get it checked-out with your gp.

The wife had severe depression and anxiety and had congnitive behaviour theropy.

They also put her on a mindfulness program and it really helped her.

You can find them online and she uses the 'head space' app wich she found really helpful.

She also uses the mindfulness colouring books, they help her relax and it stops her over thinking life.

Another one is jogging and the like.

Samuel Johnson didn't live too far from me and also suffered with bouts of the Black Dog. He used to walk from his home in Lichfield to Brum and back to Lichfield again to shake it off. I think that's probably over a 20 mile hike. I'd suggest you don't do that but it does allude to exercises' perceived effectiveness in combating it.

After all you wouldn't do a walk like that for nothing.

I get anxiety when I'm travelling, best way I deal with it is to have white noise or heavy rain drops on in my earphones at a low volume (So I can still hear what's going on around me) helps so much. Lots of people uses binaural beats to help with stress and anxiety . 432hz frequency is meant to be really good.

I must stress (no pun intended) that I am not a qualified medical professional so can only speak from personal experience.

Firstly, if physical symptoms have set in there is little to do but try to treat said symptoms either with pain killers or the like. For me the real thing is to catch stress before it manifests physical symptoms. It may sound crude but sex and or masturbation let off many endorphins that help us feel better and less stressed. It is important to find time for yourself to relax and let go even if only temporarily.

Alot of these say take time out.... Chill out.... Take time for yourself and I find that personally one of the worst ways to deal with it.... For me.... Bieng alone is scary and can lead to other worse things I have been diagnosed with severe anxiety depression, ptsd, split personality disorder and paranoid schizophrenia and it's hard..... The meds are endless.... Also if I'm alone I tend to self harm.... So when I'm really feeling down and suicidal I make myself spend time with people to take my mind off what I'm feeling.... Sometimes it helps other times not so much it really depends on the person.... I hope you find your treatment xx 8 years later I'm still battling mine.... Hot baths usually help me too try that and massage.....

Currently going through some work related anxiety right now myself and I haven’t eaten since Friday. All I can suggest is to try and take your mind off it, easier said than done I know. Like someone else suggested, hot baths. Read a book. Watch your favourite movie. Meditation. Tell yourself that this is all only temporary. If you want to be alone then make time during the day / evening to have some alone time
