We are the same when we arrange gbs. That's because collecting money is a pain in the arse and we can afford it. However some people can't afford to pay for a hotel room and I don't think it unreasonable to ask all participants to share the cost.

I think that can depend, some of the chain hotels (mecure, hilton etc) have a standard rate of £180+ so if they haven't booked and paid in advance it is possible the hotel room is over £200
