Does anyone else seem prone to these.

Not sure if it's linked to people making me gush or just vigorous play.

Just wondered whether anyone else suffers from repeat bouts and if they've worked out the trigger if there is one.

it can be linked to that definitely...it is the irritation of your urethra..try drinking plenty of cranberry or white grape juice, and if its bad, try one of the over the counter remedies, ask the pharmacist for a generic one rather than cymalon or something, a generic is about 1/2 the price!

I use to get water infections regularly which was a big worry to me too. Taking antibiotics all the time isn't good either, as they eventually will stop working. I started taking a high dose (1200mg) of cranberry tablets daily, and the water infections instantly stopped. I would highly recommend it!

Women are more prone to water infections then men as our organ is internal. Even a tiny bit of dirt under a nail is enough to set off an infection. Make sure that people wash their hands before playing with you to reduce any bacteria.

Hope this has helped!

All good advice. Cranberry juice is very effective but if gets too bad antibiotics still have a place if UTI.

Hygiene is important so toys and hands and cocks should all be nice and clean but also long and rough sessions can lead to irritation which can cause uti and cystitis. And to top all of that off some women are prone to repeated problems no matter how much care they take. So just work out what triggers the infections and take sensible precausions to try and prevent and get the remidial stuff going before you experience symptoms

Make sure you pee right after sex.

I only get them now when I don't drink enough water (eg on holiday when it's easy to drink alcohol and/or fruit/fizzy drinks all the time!).

I carry those sachets in my handbag all the time, if I feel one coming on, I take a sachet, and as much water as I can handle haha. (most of the time, just the one sachet will ward it off because I caught it before it got bad)

That's really important. I had my first attack recently and the doctor advised the peeing after sex. Flushes a lot of the harmful bacteria out

"Cranberry juice is supposed to be good "

It's not, cranberry juice has no effect on uti's. I don't know what is other than antibiotics. I get symptonless ones regularly and I drink a lot of cranberry juice

Now cranberry juice has never worked for me (says the woman who has necked a LOT of cranberry juice whilst crying on the loo) but the sachets or high strength tablets usually do. I used to get them before I went caffeine free very regularly - vigorous play and play that covers both holes will do it - the transfer of bacteria from your arse just that short inch or so to your urethra can be a killer a few hours later.

Ugh, you poor thing!

Oh, and while cranberry juice from concentrate has never done anything, fresh cranberry juice does. Definitely fresh, helps to soothe the symptoms. Doesn't tackle the infection itself, obviously!

This is incredibly important and not just hands, applies to cocks too and if using condoms for anal that should be taken off before it goes any where else.

Water water and more water is better than cranberry juice. For it to have any possible positive effect you would need to drink gallons of proper juice, not juice drink that you get in the supermarkets and it's it's full of sugar so that won't help. Wash with aqueous cream after sex and yes pee straight after. Good luck. X

If I feel a bout coming on I have half a tea spoon of bicarbonate of soda in a bit of water. I have been prone to them in the past. Also don't drink too much coffee or orange juice. I don't know how old you are but sometimes it's hormone related, menopausal too, as it makes the walls of the tube thinner. The peeing is to flush any bacteria out that sex can force up the tube, so have a big drink of water after sex to pee it out. XXX

Or talc or wipes. Had more than my fair share over the years, touch wood nothing for over a year. Each time resulting in anti biotics.

Absolutely this!! Cranberry capsules will also help as it's a concentrated amount, but supermarket cranberry is useless for UTI's. I used to get them a lot in my 20's, drink lots of water daily (minimum 2 litres) & pee after sex - should prevent them!

Cranberry juice is good as a preventative measure but only antibiotics will rid a UTI.

If you start to feel any symptoms, get some Cysticalm sachets (think someone said about these before)

You don't want to drink any more than 2 litres of clear water daily as too much water will have its own side effects, unless you go to the gym or take regular exercise that dehydrates you.

If it's only after sex & you've covered all the possibilities then I would suggest a quick dip test at your Drs to make sure nothing else is going on.

I have quite rough play & I've never had a problem after sexual only but I do have ongoing bladder issues which are currently under investigation.

Good luck!

I have irritable bladder syndrome and frequently get a uti and kidney problems too. My consultant said to drink less than whats generally recomended, to have cranberry juice or tablets, no sweetners or caffiene plus the obvious things such as wash stuff without perfume etc. I use a wash thats especially for ladies bits. Sex frequently bruises my urethra even when its gentle sex. Obvious cleanliness is important and also i always go for a wee during and after sex to hopefully wee away any germs. I have almost constant pelvis pain and often urethra pain aswell as the pain and problems associated with frequent uits.

Iv no idea why im a swinger cus sex causes so many issues lol.

I've had them for years. Due to a birth defect, my bladder doesn't empty properly. If any bacteria gets in there, it just breeds.

Cranberry helps. Apparently it lines the bladder wall, making it difficult for the bacteria to infect it. But the only thing that will knock an infection on the head for me is Cipro-floxacin (ignore the - the forum changes four of the letters to a laughing emoji without it) which I now have on repeat prescription and keep a stock of in the house, on the understanding that I take it when I feel I need to.

I've been self catheterising for about 3 years now, too. Not one that you leave in, just insert, drain, remove, throw away, 2 (it's supposed to be 3) times a day. That has made a big difference too, but I still get infected from time to time.

Just tested negative (yet again) for STI's, so it definitely isn't that. Perhaps the most irritating thing about UTI's is the fact that the symptoms mimic the common STI's, even though they're not transmissible through sex.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

One told to me by the Community Matron and the carers who were looking after my late Mum was to wipe from front to back and not the other way as it can transfer an infection from the gut to the bladder. You ladies will know what I mean.

Just confirmed that play involving stretching (i.e. full hand insertion) sets me off. Absolutely fine the rest of the time. Have read the tips above with interest. Thanks.

I'm a veteran of many UTIs (yes men do get them) and I imagine the experience is fairly similar. I've found that drinking plenty of water helps reduce the risk. Cranberry juice has some efficacy when it comes to preventing UTIs, but isn't practically much good once one has taken hold. Men and women should both pee after any kind of sexual activity, as it helps to reduce the risk of any sort of UTI gaining a hold. As a Type 2 Diabetic I've also found that limiting my sugar intake helps to reduce the chances of a UTI gaining ground.

It can be from vigorous play and gushing a lot of if you have anal it can cause it if cock goes back inside pussy after. I bought sachets from Amazon and they worked really well and drink lots of water or cranberry juice. I did in the end go to the doctor and got antibiotics and haven't had a problem since. X

somewhere sweet and sour

A lovely doctor told me to always pee and wash after sex to reduce the chance. He also said lemon barley water helps ... it actually did help reduce the sting but always end up having antibiotics. Cranberry never worked for me. Sachets never worked. Its a right pain. Remember though to drink plenty of water. Xx

I have had this problem and ultimately what sorted it was basically getting my urethra stretched surgically. You will have to see a urologist for this.

I get UTI alot, even as a fella which isn't as common as those with vaginas.

I take a daily cranberry supplement, Amazon do them, seems to help reduce the frequency

"Just got UTI for the first time, ouch! painful and cant control when I wee (Male here) been having shivers with it too...Going GP today, if I can make it without Peeing on way! Wish me luck! Trying to drink plenty of water."

get it sorted out urgently. A and E if necessary.

I had it just over a year ago and started getting delirious. A and E was a wise choice as they gave me the right antibiotics, admiitted me to a ward and from then on started a whole series of tests and treatment.

The result is I am now on prostate shrinking medication, have far fewer instances of getting taken short and, best of all, keep getting checked and told that there is no cancer there.

My advice would be forget the GP and get straight to a hospital urologist if you are in any doubt as to how serious it is.

A high strength cranberry supplement taken daily is very effective. Don’t waste your time with cranberry juice, it’s a complete myth that it helps. Full of sugar which only adds to the problem.

As others have said, plenty of water to flush the bladder through and peeing straight after sex.

Any vigorous sexual activity including finger blasting can cause irritation and infection.

Best thing is to drink plenty of water to keep the bladder well flushed out. Cranberry juice had also been shown to be beneficial as a means of prevention, although it's not effective as a curative measure.
