Professionals are split on the right way forward..

Quite a number of older men die who have prostate cancer but that isn't always the cause of death.

Psa is only an indicator.

Not straightforward.I suggest you research and research until you feel clearer about things

That is certainly one way of looking at it.

Many men have prostate cancer and don't even know it..it won't necessarily kill you.

Metformin is being used as a trial right now to reduce psa. Check with Docs! Possibly worth trying? Can cause gastric issues though!

yes about 8 years ago i had mine out and im fine ,tho my cock doesnt work tho its largly because ive not had a girlfriend since the op

so not having anyone to fuck on a regular basis it didnt get much use and as my surgeon said to me u have to use it or lose it.. sometimes i can get hard but usually not but i think a big part of it is mental ..as i sometimes wake up with a bit of a stiffy in the morning .. never as big and hard it was b4 the op bit ive sort of given up having a normal sexlife now ..i does effect you confidence

i was told most men die with it not because of it .. but 80 % of 80 year olds have it and 70% of 70 year holds have it so its very common in later life ..but becoming more so in younger guys .. i was only about 47 when i found i had it

On the surface this sounds fantastic advice, however as a survivor, the professionals are not in agreement with the best way forward..At the end of the day get advice from many sources, including those on fab swingers who have experience...

Many men have prostate cancer and don't even know it..it won't necessarily kill you.

One man dies in the UK from prostate cancer every 45 minutes. My Dad was only of those men. He had it undiagnosed with no symptoms other than a slow urine stream for what his oncologist thought was approximately 6 years before it was discovered. By then, it had spread into his lymph nodes & was incurable. It spreads into your bones as a secondary path, usually up the spine making every movement painful & eventually into your brain so the last few weeks of your life are spent confused, disoriented & not always knowing where you are or who the people around you are.

Since you posted this question 6 weeks ago, over 1,344 men have died from prostate cancer.

Use tools like the ProstateCancerUK website, the Men Utd charity & the NHS website. Removing your prostate will likely cause impotency & incontinence issues but if you do have a tumour it could prevent it spreading & save your life.

But most importantly, seek medical help. Get tested, get a biopsy if there's a tumour, understand the impacts of radio & chemo vs removal or other treatments and make an informed excision based on your situation, the nature of your tumour and the advice of your oncologist & your family.

Good luck OP - & to those others on here dealing with it. It's the most treatable form of cancer for a man as long as it's diagnosed early enough. Please make sure you don't ignore it!!

My dad is living with prostate cancer was contained but grew last year had radiation therapy to shrink it and has regular checks every three months but lucky scans found early growth on his kidney so had to have half his kidney removed.

He has a more active sex life since having that OP than he ever did before. Only thing is he doesn't produce sperm on orgasm.

luckily i can orgasm tho it takes a lot longer and these days i tend to use my e-stim it is a lot more intense .. I always thought most women wdnt be interested in me if couldnt spunk ..part of the reason i kind gave up

in fact I could wait 6 months.

need to get it out now.

My point exactly about using many resources, including guys on here who have first hand experience..

My surgeon naturally wanted to operate whilst the radiotherapist had other suggestions..

It is a massive decision that is left for you to decide after scaring you with possible outcomes..

The OP is asking advice from survivors of prostate cancer, none of us are claiming to be medical experts.

The reason it's on here is because the prostate produces the sperm and the operation Will leave most guys impotent.most of the sexual nerve ends are removed with the prostate.

Doctors etc are not always comfortable discussing sex

Often it is the radiotherapy that causes much of the damage leading to some of the awful side effects mentioned here.

This is because old style radiotherapy is a bit of a blunt instrument. However, proton beam therapy is far more precise and greatly reduces the damage. Sadly, however, there are very few of these machines, and scandalously the Welsh Government allowed the one in Newport to close down without purchasing it from the private company that failed during Covid.

If you need to have prostate radiotherapy, do all you can to be treated with this proton beam technology.

That was my attitude on testicular cancer, I had it removed, the radiotherapy is just to kill off anything that might be lingering.
