Best/cheapest/Easiest online STI testing

I know that local clinics are cheapest places to go for STI testing but working and personal issues prevent use of the local very limited service.

If u test online who do u use?

Online tests can only test for a very limited amount of time clinic is a pain but u get tested gor all

I wouldn't use online again to be honest,I did it once for various reasons and it gave me a false reading. When I actually managed to get a proper appointment,the result was different to the online result.

none of those are cheap, just one test for one infection is expensive. test normally posted to you next day, you post back special delivery unmarked box provided, results by text or email within the week. if not a test available for home use then they will call you into a private clinic somewhere closest to you.

if positive and treatable they will give a prescription, but normally they charge for issuing one, if not some have private clinics they will call you into to discuss.

its cheaper if you just take a hour off or day holiday and go to docs or sexual health clinic some open sat and sun

The Birmingham area send you free tests to your door. Whats all this paying malarky?

I also ordered condoms and you can choose the sizes and types. Free also but they took over a month to arrive

if you look up nhs online testing kits for sti

i think they still do tests via post n txt and are pretty quick

especially if you are in an area where of all people virgin health are contracted. they are pretty good with out of hours appointments, drop in no appointments, and some postal services

I always say i have the dentist when i go to a clinic for a test that or in my days off which are fixed

No free postal test kits available in Wales where I live.

My nearest clinic isn't so local and also has very limited service, like you OP it's very hard to get to if you work. Most of the time you do your own swabs, this should be available more freely.

I'm waiting on results this week.

SH:24 do a free test, they send you a kit in the post, you enter your postcode on the site to see if it's available in your area.

While the issue of free vs paid for has been brought up, I wonder how many think it is fair to expect the NHS to fund monthly STI testing for people who willingly put themselves at high risk of catching an STI?

Whist it's true it's cheaper for the NHS to offer free tests than treat an epidemic, the point remains should the tax payer be funding STI tests for the promiscuous?

I guess that depends on how much we'd have to pay. Is £20 a test too naive a suggestion...it must cost more...but what about motorcyclists or base jumpers, should they pay for treatment too?

And if they were to be turned away for treatment because of a lack of funding, how many would shrug it off as being fair enough as they've been getting a grands worth of STI tests a year for free?

You could use that argument for almost any health condition. Indeed it is the Donald trump mantra. Why should the tax payer pay for skin cancer - you went out in the sun.

Sports injuries

Sex changes

Ivf

Accidents at home or anywhere else

Car crash victims (you could walk)

Heart conditions (do more exercise - but see above about sports injuries)

Almost anything bar air born diseases could be apportioned to someone taking a lifestyle risk or making a choice to do something.

If we are going to ration resources based on lifestyle then I'd start with other treatments first. In fact I'd want STI testing expanded. If I break an arm playing rugby there is little pay off to society for treating me. If you catch infections early the benefits to society are far greater.

I'd pay but then I know I'm lucky that a few tenners does not make or break my month. Others are not so fortunate.
