Which type of pill? I've been on and off the mini pill for years, and whenever I go back on it I spot for a few weeks then it settles.

This can be quite normal. It may wear off eventually. If not then I'd seek professional advice as to what other options may suit.

Yeah best discussing with a professional. There are downsides and upsides for all contraception just depends on the person.

While its true that everyone can react different ... doctors often offer you the cheapest and easiest options so it is helpful to ask somewhere here where a wide range of women can asvise what types they have tried and what they found good and bad about ... lets you be armed with some ideas for things you might like to try before returning to the doctor

OP ive been lucky that the generic first choice pill works pretty well for me and i can tricycle my packs together .., i have tried the mini pill before but bled constantly ... its the same hormones in the implant which puts me off that ad an options ... they do often say that it can take up to 6 months for the bleeding to settle down though

We would suggest you have sex while you are menstruating as the result is often lighter, shorter periods.

We know many people are disgusted with period sex but if you can ignore the mess it can be beneficial.

Take sensible precautions, waterproof mattress protector covered by a sheet on the bed, husband use a condom to prevent pregnancy (it will also help keep his cock clean).

You might find that by having sex while you have your period things settle down more quickly and your body will come to terms with the new pill quicker.

You could find perhaps, the worst thing about sex when menstruating is having to get up afterwards to wash and clean up.

We have had some of our best sex when I'm on. Orgasms are out of this world and last ages. One thing though , definitely put protection down because of the large and bloody evacuation when you orgasm. Big bonus , certainly shortened my period.

You need to discuss with GP, there may be underlying health issues as to why you cannot use other types of contraception & obviously we don't know that.

You can arm yourself with information though, implant, coil, depo injection etc

That way you'll get the best out of your GP appointment xx

"Get hubby to have snip, then don't need to take pill at all"

if I was still fertile, even if my partner was sterilized, I'd still take the pill while taking part in this hobby. Condoms aren't 100% reliable and very dependant on user competence. It may seem a bit belt and braces but I wouldn't want to take any chances of conceiving

According to mens health magazine approximately 90,000 men a year get the snip so looks like a lot of men would ... probably husbands who realise their wife has been pumping her body with hormones for years as birth control , then put her body through the trauma of pregnancy and giving birth so maybe its his turn

Just asking for a little lighthearted advice to see if others experienced the bleeding when changing pills

Obviously I'm not thick and wouldn't rely on medical advice from strangers on a swinging site, I was just frustrated last night by the bleeding when I wrote the post.

have a doctors appointment during the week to discuss other options

I've heard good advice re the mirena coil so will look into all options

Period sex can be fun I agree but i wouldn't meet anyone when I have period and love the saying about the dirt track

Thanks everyone xxx

"That's what I'm looking for

Depends on the contraception and your reaction to it.

I was originally on the injection (the 3 monthly one) and my periods stopped and only light spotting for a few months on and off. Then it completely stopped. Was on it for a year and a bit.

Changed over to the implant and had no change then suddenly gained loads of weight and kept getting days and days of light bleeding. But it's not a proper period just very light bleeding and it goes away again for months on end.

But I know others who have either had no period at all or a normal period just depends on you.

The implant works for me just now until I get it taken out I haven't considered other options as I need something long term.

Can speak for a FWB, she has a coil and it does the trick. Only thing is certain positions you (I) can feel it but she had it adjusted and fine. Had another girl with implant and she rated that too. Having doscussed it at length with a both can recommend either if the pill is not the way to go

I'd recommend discussing the options with your local sexual health clinic, I've certainly got more comprehensive advice there than with my GP.

As for what to try my experiences aren't going to help as people react differently. I had an awful time with the implant whereas others have loved it. Now have a mirena coil and it's working much better for me but was incredibly painful when it was put it, other people report no issues. I was on the depo for a decade and loved it, others hate it.

I haven't read the whole page sorry

I was suffering a few years ago with continuous bleeding

My doc prescribed norethisterone tablets which stopped the bleeding but it's only a temporary measure and obviously you need to get to toot of of your problems as I did

But it helped us to enjoy a naughty weekend away and stopped the bleeding
