Does anyone know what the deal is with this ? Are there certain words that trigger this block ?

I thought it was from using other the names of other sites that triggered this but I wasn't using other site names and I wasn't given any warning, just instant block

There are banned words even in messaging?

I have seen people being choosy about what they say in the forums, but do we have to restrict what we say in private messaging too

I had a 48 hour ban on the forum, not sure what word triggered it as I write on my peoples forums and my own.

I just had a box that come up banning me as inappropriate content etc

I was shocked tbh!!!

There are certain words that will trigger a ban, don't think there's a list but from what I've read relate to more extreme acts.

Basically any sexually violent words will get you a temporary message ban, also anything that looks like a web site address.

As mentioned above, I tried to use the word str,angle on the forums the other day and I couldn't post the comment until I changed the word.

As far as i know there isn't a list of banned words published anywhere on the site. You don't know you have broken the rules until you get the ban and even then they don't tell you what you said to get the ban. I got a messaging ban for using a word that's not allowed a few months ago and i never found out which word it was.

It would be helpful if they either published the list of banned words somewhere or actually told you what it is you said that's not allowed. That way we could all make sure we don't fall foul of the rules.

I didn't know it triggered a timeout.

I can understand it in one way, but for example there has been threads on the 3 Girls documentary. Using the word r*pe stops the forum post. As does k*dnap. In the context of a discussion about that issue, they are relevant.

Maybe the bans are for using them in messages, as they could be threatening to the recipient?

I got a 24 hour ban for a pussy picture, and it wasn't what you'd imagine! But rules are rules and we have to abide with them as the moderators haven't got time to judge every post in or out of context

I always get 'warning message not sent' then revoked message sending for a time, whenever I've put... dots. In private messages.

If I hit back, delete the multiple ...., wait a few minutes, it's fine.

Obviously in forums the problem isn't here.

I got a 24 hour ban yesterday. In the message from admin it basically said they don't want anyone mentioning anything illegal incase it's an actual crime that has happened and this site gets dragged through the courts because of it.

All sites we have ever used have a block on certain words, this site isn't any different. It is hopefully to stop certain things being mentioned and spammers. We had a block for two hours once too
