"Hello fellow fabbers I will be visiting Brighton with a female friend at the weekend and we are looking to stay overnight in a hotel. We need some advice upon the best hotels with reasonable prices. Preferably around West Street. Cheers" Theres a Travelodge in West Street I think and its just off the seafront where there are quite a few hotels. Enjoy your stay.

Preferably around West Street. Cheers" We have been going to Brighton regularly for over a decade and virtually always stay at the Premier Inn City Centre (on North Street). Its recently been refurbished. Good quality, value for money, as central as you can get, walking distance to everything of note in Brighton. If you want to go a bit more upmarket you can sometimes get good deals at the Hilton Metropole or a bit further along the front at the Holiday Inn.

"Make sure the hotel has a car park as Brighton is a horrendous place to park due to the parking charges. We stayed at the Iron Duke and had to use a car park about a 10 min walk from the hotel and the charges were £14 a day for parking. Which was very cheap for Brighton." A very good point. The parking charges can make a cheaper hotel suddenly not worth it. Some places actually pay your parking I understand.

"We always stay at The Granville - stayed several times a year for the last 10 years. Good prices, chilled staff, great sea views and really good breakfast included. They often have stay 3, pay for 2 night deals. They have a cheaper partner hotel next-door called Cecil Lodge which we've not stayed at. Parking is close-by in the underground carpark at Regency Sq but parking charges not included in room cost. Enjoy Brighton, there's always something fun to do." We've only stayed there once but fell in luuuurve with the Granville! We booked cos we wanted a hot tub, so got one of the rooms with a corner bathtub/jacuzzi; it came with a four poster bed and open sky views of the seafront - perhaps not great for a visitor, you wouldn't want to leave the room! I also second the central Premier Inn (on North st), just as described above the rooms are very well-designed and new - makes a lot of other more expensive but older hotels in the area feel like hovels. I also like the Premier Inn cos you can go in and out without any staff obviously checking your company and movements - though I realise that most swingers won't be as intimidated by reception staff as I am! You do have to book early with this though, the prices start cheap but they go up and up and up (and up). If you're not fussed about luxury or fancy stuff, a central hotel which always offers cheaper rates is the Royal Albion opposite the palace pier. It feels kind of basic and the cheaper rooms are dated but it is comfortable, has a very spacious, bright and quiet lounge, and is bang in the centre.

"I have always found it hard to find a 3* room in Brighton on a Saturday for less than £150 even when booking in advance. I tried looking online two weeks ago for a mid June Saturday with no luck. How do you get cheaper rooms or is that the going rate?" Hmm yes when in season the rates get astronomical! Prices shoot up when there's a popular event, bank holiday, other holiday or celebration, too many summer weddings, too many stag&hen parties for those summer weddings... you get the idea. On some weekends there is no room to be had, or the remaining two available rooms are going for a grand! If anything my main tip would be (apart from booking eeeeearly, which you tried): if you are flexible on your dates try another weekend, you may get different offers. If it's an option work-wise, forego the Saturday and stay a Friday or Sunday night, it cuts the price drastically and can be as much fun. If you have transportation, consider booking in nearby locations (there are some very nice hotels in the "countryside"). Also note that Kemp Town, which has many smaller hotels and B&Bs, is within walking distance to the centre (and much closer to Bristol Gardens!). As a side note I am not certain I would pay much attention to stars? I don't know what the classification system is, but in my experience at least in Brighton the correlation between stars and quality can be poor. Visitors reviews give way more reliable an impression.
