hubby and I had our profile set at "Curvy" for both of us....... have had a few people say they dont think we are curvy but rather normal..... seems there is no clear cut distinction of what curvy means? we have since changed our profile but we are interested to find out what the perception out there of Curvy is........opinions please?

not straight, slightly bent lol!!

I think of a curvy woman to have shape (hips, boobs, bum etc) curvy men would be a bit of a belly!

Perhaps ladies should list their dress size along with their height.

Guys should list their waist and maybe their chest size.

That would probably give everyone a good over_iew of what to expect.

Can just imagine turning up for a meet armed with a tape measure and a ruler

Curvy (for women) to me is size 14/16/18 below that i'd say average/slim, above it large.

"Curvy (for women) to me is size 14/16/18 below that i'd say average/slim, above it large. "

that is not what curvy is to me. Curvy signifies a shape rather than a dress size. You can have a size 14 but she can have a boyish, straight up and down figure, as can a size 18.

If a woman has boobs, a noticable waist and then hips that flare out,in that classic figure of figure of 8 shape, that is curvy

I think I'd agree with that. I could never think of a guy as 'curvy' - it's a womanly description!

I consider myself a BBW, however, my FAB friends say I do not qualify, and should consider myself as being curvy instead.

I dont really care how other people define me, they can describe me how they like. I am a size 16/18, some may say thats a BBW, some might say it isnt. I dont care, say what they like.

I know I am curvy.

Yes I agree, i actually meant to add that they need to have defined a waist. But even with a waist and hips I don't consider a size 10 as curvy.

Definition is in the eye of the beholder OR can you guess what shape I am?

Curvy is definitely defined by shape and not size. Women with an hour glass figure are curvy, generous hips matched with big breasts with an obvious waist in between.

If you are straight up and down (i.e. there is no defined waist then athletic build would probably be the best description.

Small boned with A, B or C cup breasts, hips in proportion and a waist that goes in would be slim.

An hour glass figure with ample breasts and hips and a waist that is obviously narrower than both is Curvy. It doesn't matter what dress size you are it is the shape that counts. If you lay in front of a mirror naked and your waist looks as if it is a deep valley between two rounded hills then you are definitely curvy.

If your breasts, stomach and hips are all the same size then large would be a better description for you.

On the other hand, what does shape matter, you connect with people not their outer shell.

Jenni xx

Id say curvy is someone of healthy weight, with volumptuos assets, I think I set mine to average, as I fit into a UK size 10 dress, but I do have big boobs. I wouldnt set myself as curvy however because I think people perceive curvy as anyone over a size 14.

To me curvy is a shape where you still are solid enough to maintain that shape, when you get to a size that gravety take over and your nipples point to the floor and you belly has a over hand and you have roll lines on your back thats not curvy thats fat

If your belly sticks out further than your knockers I don't think that's curvy, similar for a bloke if your belly sticks out further than your pecker your not average

On here it doesnt refer to body shapes it refers to size. So goes up in stages and this is the general rule so...

slim

average

curvy

etc

Thats why curvy can be used for men too.... it doesnt really makes sense and all is open to interpretation. Average dress size in this country for a woman is size 16 but maybe some would say that is curvy.... have seen profiles where they look perfectly slim but say ample and profiles where they look a good size 16 but have stated athletic. Have spoken to guys who say they are athletic because they have started the gym or run or exercised a lot as part of a weight loss program but their body doesnt look athletic thats the point isnt it? In other words its a very hit and miss system as it is open to interpretation by different people with different agendas. Go by the pics.

Lots of peopke seem to be relating the word curvy to size and it is all down to how you see yourself. For me, like I stated earlier, it is the clearly defined shape of full breasts, slimmer waist and wider hips. But apparently some people are saying as long as that shape is stuck in a size 14/16 dress its curvy, otherwise it isn't. That's not correct in my _iew.

If I can see a shape which goes in and out in all the right places, that is curvy.

Athletic to me means exactly that, a toned, muscly, firm body. I doubt that many of the female athletes can fit into a size 10 that's for sure, I'd imagine some of them are easily a 16/18, some of them are built like guys

I think thats the point..... curvy to most in real life is just as you describe it but on here it was maybe intended as a nicer way of saying a little overweight. Its not a very good system. If needed maybe just dress ranges are a better way to go but that isnt a perfect system for lots of reasons either.... not sure what the answer is!

I wish people that messaged us knew this description - the amount of people that consider themselves "slim or athletic" is so out there.

Although their probably just trying their chances..

Good topic to see people thought on the matter.

I have never seen a disclaimer written by Admin which says that you can only choose curvy from the drop down menu if you are a little overweigh. I thought it was just a selection of words to describe your body type.

But I suppose the order in which the body description grouping could indicate people read into it as you've described.

I will use the definition of curvy to be exactly what I've previously described and not what others want to group me in, because to me Fab is not a unique planet with a different command of the english language.

So in my _iew people describe themselves as they see fit. I agree like you that you should go on pictures, you can see with your own eyes who is curvy

That all depends on your bone structure. Im 5'8 and a size 10 and i dont look ill at all. I have a medium to small body frame. So thats probably how im meant to look naturally. I guess if you have a bigger frame and lose a lot of weight down to a size 8/10 then your bones would be jutting out.

We are about 15 mins outa Pontypridd and we do go to Crawley in west sussex 2-3 times a year so get in touch !!

But alot of peeps defination of curvy realy does differ as we have met cpls and singles socially where they prof says curvy and in reality they are alot more than curvy, there are some peeps on ere that are just plainly fat and they put curvy on they profile but its a lil like peeps who lie bout they age and use 10 yr old piks ov themselvs on they prof, you will be found out lol,we class ppl ov a size 10 - 14 as curvy, ppl ov a size 14 - 18 are velumtuouse and ppl bigger than size 18 are just fat so we stick wi cpls from sizes 8 - 14 but we will reconsider if we find a very sexy and attractive velumtuouse lady but any thing over a size 18 would dwarf sugar and it just wouldens look right

We'd expect a woman who described herself as "curvy" to have a bust and hip measurement considerably larger than that of her waist.

Think 50's screen idols, Sophia Loren, Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe etc mmmm yeah, curvy.

Also, to our minds, there's no such thing as a curvy guy!
