Hi

Can anyone advise - I seem to have lost use of my USB's on my laptop? I may have inadvertently switched them off? How can I switch them back on please?

Slough

What operating system?

If you plug something like a phone in to them do they provide power to charge it?

Unless you've been into the bios then it's unlikely that you've turned them off.

Have you tried a reboot?

Any recent windows updates or new stuff installed?

wouldn't be surprised if it is this.

i got rid of my last laptop because every update seemed to delete something useful off it. right click went, scrolling messed up, few other things.

Normally I would have a look in Device Manager (though how you get to that in Windows 10 I have no idea, and I have no intention of installing it - I still can't stand Windows 8 but was forced to have 8.1 when I got my current laptop - still running Win 7 on my Video Editing Power PC - recently rebuilt following a hard drive failure)

Can't think how you could have inadvertently disabled your USB ports though.

How many ports do you have and have you tried plugging in a USB device that you know to be in fully working order.

It may be the device that you're using rather than the ports themselves.

I've had USB sticks that have stopped working in the past and that are no longer recognised by any system
