We have had it a little while ago in the chat rooms, a guy we met remembered our exact registration plate (he came to our house and it was parked on the drive). We hadn't seen this guy in nearly two years and yet he still knew the plate, we have moved now anyway so its not a massive issue for us, but it does illustrate the point.

I have a private plate as well but it doesn't bother me if people see it cause I tend to give me real name when I'm arranging a meet with someone anyway.

And everyone knows my car I always get "saw your car at xyz" I usually just reply "I was out hoeing " and change the subject hahaha
