Hi all,

Just out of interest more than anything; I've just moved to a new property where a lot of work needs doing. I knew this first and the price reflected this of course.

It does look a little 'interesting' at the moment. I've had to remove all the carpets, wallpaper, removing plaster to get to the original fireplaces etc. But it's clean, I've had new heating put in, electric is fine so now it's onto the decor and new furnishings that I guess will take 4-6 months.

If you were looking for a meet would you ignore the project in hand or would it be a deal breaker for you? Obviously I would be up front about the property condition prior to arranging anything, maybe some people would come armed with paint brushes!

Your helpful thoughts really appreciated.

Sx.

Have done similar in the past. Like you say as long as you're honest then people can make their own mind up

Not a deal breaker if upfront so they know what to expect x

Any furniture? A guy once suggested we meet in an empty rental property and he would put a mattress on the floor. I said no, I like comfort and a semblance of normality. We're renovating our house at the moment though, so as long as there was some furniture I can't see a problem.

Hi. Thank you for the positive replies!

Yes there is basic furniture here sofa, king size bed etc (and all clean!).

I just looked around last night and realised it might have been better to tackle one room at a time!

It's tempting to try and do it all at once isn't it. We did the kitchen and bathroom first now we're on to the main living rooms.

I think if you have a bed and somewhere to sit, and can offer a drink and basic loo facilities there's no problem.

I once went to a meet with a guy who wasn't up front. He had recently moved into a flat (couple of days previous), had no flooring, bed and his only furniture way his dead grandmas draylon, stained sofa!

I made a hasty retreat to the car and told him to message me when he was a litttle more settled. I like my home comforts x

I'm in the middle of renovations, as I only pay cash (rather than take out loans) its a step by step process.

At the moment the bathroom is a bombsite, there is no plaster on the landing wall & the stairs carpet is wrecked.

TBH I'm a tad embarrassed to invite people round..

Just to add my opinion to snow there are many - tbh it would add to it for us the thought of just a mattress on the floor with rough walls but then we are as little kinked lol just trying to say it can be a positive for some and not so nice for others

And I think this is exactly where my question came from. I'm not really embarrassed myself as it's obvious what's going on. I would always be upfront and honest as well. Some have said, very kindly it wouldn't be a problem- or might even be an added excitement factor!

I just think I might run a mile if I invited myself around here at the moment!

A world of my own

Given the places some people choose to have fun in I'd say it could be a step up!
