Heres on for you...

Installing a new 500gb wd hdd Sata...

Bios not picking it up.

New cables, power, runs independent....can hear it spooling up and ticking over..0 noise pollution on it.

Inspected the circuits, all fine.

The jumpers are set to slave

Running windows 10 OS, its not going to show in disk management because its not picked up in bios but have checked just in case it was a bios glitch.

Flashed bios to update and still nothing

Sounds like your current hard drives are in a raid format. if it is you need to run a raid setup again before bios will pick up the new drive.

I use ccleaner all the time with no problem

Just open the programme and before you run it go through all the options and tick or untick what you want it to do!

Great to work for that outside firm...

Deleting something doesn't mean it is deleted from the computer. It merely means that the place on the computer drive is available to write new data on it. Even simple software can bring up 'deleted' files. Professional ones can recover data several layers underneath...

I wouldn't even do what you did with a work computer. You may have to give your boss a BJ to keep him quiet. And to all of your IT guys as well.

And btw, call me , if you need a massage. I'm much more discreete than your Whatsup can ever be.

OP, Windows 10 is absolute junk, as widely known.

Any chance of uninstalling it without a complete format, after the 30 day period finished 2 years ago?

And another one, if you are really interested - recovery of data after a server packed up. One of the 3 drives gave a fault. Data recovered from individual drives, but how can I do it when the drives are connected so that the data isn't corrupted?

I doubt my question is very clear. Send me a message if you wish.

Cheers!

Here's one for you, what makes an iMac overheat?

hell ..if 10 is an upgrade then you should be able to downgrade but back up data,

Install and build with hardware isnt my thing but check compatibilty.wont gel will it so has to be the answer.Like i said not my thing mounting drives asigning master slave sounds so much more interesting than it is

Free programs like eraser can do a military grade wipe of bin and any folder that was used for sensitive files..use one.

imac or any pc blocked fan dust age strio fan clean it some people just get inventive with a toothbrush and hover id google the method .

I would disconnect the drives and use another computer and disc recovery software myself /or connect another computer and run recovery software from it perhaps .Dont forget to veiw all files in folder options while your working .Most of these programs often recover a broken drive if you can mount it .Also if anything like that is a problem recovery stuff will often run from a pendrive .Cant help thinking im missing something here but its mostly about how good the software you use is .clary utilities is what i used before ..

Dont install windows 10 if you press function keys it will lead to an option to fix start up problems or recover or roll back the update or restore usually look carefully for txt when you boot up It varies which function key If you end up in the bios just leave it without changes and press another one next boot up .Restore computer or roll back good /recover computer is drastic move but if no option non destructive recovery is very last resort

"ok did this post help anyone ? "

Many thanks for your attempts to answer all questions! Very impressive.

I'll go over the answers another time and see what can be done.

The server's 3 hards disks have each a fraction of the individual files and when I tried to recover them with some Wondershare recovery software last year, the files came up with errors. I haven't had the time since, but I'll try something else.

Have a nice long weekend!

Data spread that widely ,is a disaster you need to recreate the whole thing-recover file systems try and clone it ,as its a broken drive to a new drive and then readress it and recombine it ?

Maybe someone else can help ?

Thanks ill have a nice easter.. hope the playboy bunny brings you something nice

Er, there is no Master/Slave jumper on a SATA drive
