Advice on recognising a profile IRL

How would you guys approach recognising a couple by their public face pics as a couple you know in real life?

We're in the same game here so won't be going telling mutual friends etc and would hope they wouldn't too.

They're new (joined 6 weeks ago) and it would be nice to say welcome to or lifestyle however they live VERY close (3 doors down eek) so I don't think we could play with them. It might be nice to share advice though.

They've looked at our profile so may have recognised us, we've blocked them for now in a bit of a panic.

Would you like to be told if you'd been recognised? Or blocked? Or both?

Any help and Advice appreciated.

Something similar happened to me, I just blocked them and didn't mention it. They might be mortified if you mentioned it to them.

I've just been messaged by a colleague in another office. I've blocked him and no mention of it will ever be made.

It happens occasionally. I'd just block and ignore anyone I knew in real life.

Ok thanks, we'll keep them blocked and just not mention it when passing in the street

If ever they call round for a cup of sugar, be sure to answer them with "nice of you to SWING by, it was really FAB seeing you"

I've messaged someone from work.

I didn't know that, as there was no face pic or clue in profile.

She blanked me. Later explained that she knew me, and we often parked next to each other in the car park.

But on the plus side, she's now changed jobs and hopefully meeting next week.

I know there is on person from my works on here. He knows and I know but we never talk of it!

An occasional 'do anything special at weekend?' Gets said when I put something on my status about weekend x

Keep them blocked and never mention it. I have seen someone I knew on here and did just that, just because we were on the same site doesn't mean they would want to discuss it with me

Block them and never mention or even hint that you know they swing.

All the advice seems to be in the same direction (block, ignore, hide, run away etc.). But as the OP says....both here for same thing...clearly wouldn't go round telling mutual friends etc.... but you could be missing out on friendship, chat and exchange of ideas....even if you don't play.

What's the harm?

I've met with very local people. We see each other out and about. Have met each other's family members on some occasions.... but we just nod as aquaintences..... no harm done.

We saw someone we knew at a club, said a polite hello and left each other alone. Agreed we are pretty much all on here for the same reason (although that can be quite debatable), but it would seem wisest to leave well alone and give them a wide berth - then if you meet at a club or party you can investigate further, maybe

Some one I work with approached me wasn't embarrassed as we clearly both looking for the same thing. Nothing about swinging ever really gets said.

We would message them to test the water, but we get recognized so often from medieval reenactment, that it doesn't phase us at all.

In fact there are people we know from reenactment who are also on here - should be a fun season!

I'd be honest. Send a polite message saying that you think you recognise them, but of course you may be mistaken and if they want to chat then you'd be happy to make friends.

Reiterate that everything discussed is 100% discreet and private and that you expect the same.

If they wish to keep themselves to themselves then say you totally respect their decision and you won't mention anything again.

That way, you avoid sending newbies fleeing for fear of being recognised and put the ball in their court.

Have you had any contact with this couple in real life, OP? There is the risk of making things awkward by playing on your own doorstep if things go sour. It all depends on how closely guarded you keep your swinging life.

Alternatively it could be a wonderful thing if it works out. If you're going to try and make a thing of it then be open from the start. Fab some pics.... Send a wink. If they respond, let them know you think you recognise them from your local area and offer to send them a face pic as a show of trust. Make it clear that you will respect their privacy if they're not interested.

Potentially very risky but could pay off.

We were 'found out' by a local couple, who were also in the lifestyle and they weren't discreet, as they didn't care who knew they were swingers. Hence they started spreading it around the locality, not very pleasant!
