I would say go the police as it's a criminal offence but certainly don't be pushed into doing something you don't want to. Especially as the blackmail rarely ends when they get what they want. Remember though you have fine nothing wrong and stay strong!

Go to the police. Ask for a private meeting, not at the desk.

Tell them everything, be open and honest.

You've done nothing wrong.

Good luck.

Politely Tell this person if they go through with any of there threats you are going to the police as it's a criminal offence that can carry prison time then block them on any sites they have contact with you on.

I doubt they would carry on after that.

There is nothing more you can really do at this point but if this person see's they are getting to you they will get worse.

Warks.

Posting intimate photographs of somebody else without thier consent is now illegal. I think you should remind this vile person of this. If convicted, They could then be put on the sex offenders register. Ask him how he would explain that to his family, friends and workplace

Oh for blackmail then yes, best do what another poster posted, have a private meeting with the police and let them handle it.

I've been through similar I told them I'd go to the police numerous times but it didnt stop them. Then I started screenshotting revenge porn laws and they backed off a bit but didn't fully stop until a friend of mine that works for the local council got in touch with them. She's more clued up on law than I am he deleted all photos he had and left me alone.

Its so hard because it starts with one photo, they say they'll post it if you don't send more. Than it moves on to videos and its just a huge viscious circle. Sending you all the love and hugs in the world. If threats of going to the police arent enough then you have to go to them before it happens xxx

You say you have been in touch via Facebook, so the Police will be able to trace him easily enough, its definitely worth getting them involved.

One mistake lots of people make is using pics that are easily recognisable as them, if you have tats, disguise them on pics you post on here.

Its worth having different pics done that don't appear anywhere else, this with faces and tats blanked means you have deniability.

Call 101 and explain it, ask for an officer to come to you and then you can sit down with them and show them the messages you have received, fab will co-operate with the police should he post anything as will facebook to trace him.

Just what other people have said, report it to the police. They should be able to sort things out from there. Hopefully letting them know the authorities are involved will make them back off.

Hope things work out alright.

Not a good idea.

It's against site rules.

It could backfire horribly.

We only have one side of the story.

What's to stop me from outing you for the same thing?

The police can do something about it however if they will is another matter

The problem with 'revenge porn' is once it's out there on the internet for everybody to see it'll NEVER be removed.. people take screen shots etc and just re post it on different sites that's the problem with it

Had a friend go through this a few years ago. When it wasn't a criminal offence. Guards took it very seriously even then. So report immediately.

Just a small bit of advice. Shut down your Facebook. Make a new account and never link your fan to Facebook

Good advice. Also never use the same phone number for facebook and fab. Never send identifiable photos to anyone. Never use the same face picture on here and on facebook.

A bit late for you op, I hope it comes to nothing.

Ive got an ongoing incident right now involving revenge porn.

I can tell you now the police do take this very very seriously, and the consequences for the individual convicted can be extremely damaging including as already mentioned being placed upon the sex offenders register. Im currently still debating my options on weather to proceed with the action or to let sleeping dogs lie, however do not be afraid to speak to the police I found them to be very helpful, respectful and non judgemental about the whole issue.

It's not just this site, my former FWB posted a picture of me tied naked to his bed on an online sex advertising site and invited man or women or couples to fuck me and do whatever they wanted to me. I did not give permission for it. It had my face in it too, it was a local site.

He got angry when I told him to take it down.

OK, I had something similar happen to me before the new laws came in. I too am very heavily tattooed and easily recognisable. I took a brave move and called his bluff. I acted cool and said, go ahead then like I didn't care that he splattered my pics over facebook. I also changed my settings on facebook to disallow tags unless I approved them first. So if my pics were posted and my name was on them, they wouldn't actually be tagged to me. I also ramped up my security settings on Facebook. He didn't post them as for him, the fun was over. He had nothing to blackmail me with and he wasn't going to get what he wanted.

Now that these new laws are in place, what he is doing is totally illegal and if you have proof of his threats, he can be easily traced through his IP and charged. Depending on his previous convictions and level of threat, it holds a custodial sentence.

Someone on here was using pics of a friend to set up fake profiles and saying where she lived and on another site, what she did as a job...also saying vile things on the profiles. The police got involved and she was cautioned; this was before the new law. If she did this ever again, because she has been cautioned, y friend wouldn't blink at going back to the police and having her charged. This is a breach of privacy with massive repercussions and the perpetrators need to be dealt with harshly.

Good luck; I totally empathise with your situation, it is really horrible xx

Can I ask, does this person know you personally, has he got your name, can he find you on FB, ramp up your security settings and tell him your prepared to go to the police and let them deal with it.

My teenage step son had a similar experience with some sort of social media site, was encouraged to send pictures of a sexual nature to a girl he'd been chatting to, she or I should say they, because when we did take it to the police after him paying and the demands kept coming, the police said its more common than you think, organised gangs apparently, he had to cancel his bank card and the police advised him to delete his FB account, he did for a month but he's back on FB now and all the more cautious I hope.

Good luck hope you manage to get it sorted.

Hope you get it sorted OP

I had an ex set up a profile on Fab with all my real details and phone number. Even where I lived. He also contacted my work pretending to be a woman telling them I was having affairs with married men (which I wasn't).

Work was good about it. They just blocked him so he couldn't contact them. Fab was really good. The account was down within an hour.

I did however have to change my phone, both mobile and landline and change my email address.

I couldn't actually ever prove it was him and didn't want to pursue it further as everything stopped once one of my brothers threatened him.

It does get better OP.

The police will be able to trace there isp or MAC address (same thing) there a unique number to all hand sets (phones ipad, pda's) & PCs

People don't understand that they leave a electronic footprint everywhere they go online & it's traceable!

Start by blocking all new posts on Facebook from people not in your friends list contacting you!

Restrict from public to private & then they'll not be able to post anything on your page!

I was under the impression that if you send or upload pictures to a person or site, you relinquish property over them. Be careful although he HAS committed a crime in blackmailing he would not probably be charged with anything in using the pictures in platforms who would take them. Facebook have decency standards but sites like tumblr do not and have ruined lives already. Good luck OP x

This. I was blackmailed by an ex. In a d*unken moment of madness I texted her and asked to fuck her. Next day she blackmailed me for more money. I fessed up to the wife ( now an ex too ) and then went straight to the cops. They couldn't have handled it better. Went to her place of work, a bank, in uniform and " had a word".
