Okay, so I'm not that good with communication on a swingers website, being a single male doesn't help I suppose. But I've noticed the majority of people I've tried to chat to, don't even open the messages.

Most ladies look at your profile before reading the message. If there is nothing there to pique their interest they will delete the message without reading it.

well as you are asking OP, if we had a message from you, we would opening it, have a quick read and then look at your profile.

So a whole one liner..and then think, nothing really interesting to read there.

Yes we know ours is long and boring, but you need to be a bit more descriptive on yours

"If you send yourself a mail you'll see that the first few words are visible without having to open your message. If you can engineer it so that the dots make a cliff-hanger you'll increase your chances of it being opened. The rest is down to your message contents, your profile and identifying the right people for you.

Just to expand and give a general tip: A lot of online messaging tools allow you to read the first line of a message. So if you're one of those people who communicates with very short sentences (e.g. you ok?, How are you?, Are you free tonight?), that will be read (and maybe deleted) without actually going into the message.

E.g. You don't actually look large in your photo. Either you're the queen of selfies or I should get myself down to Specsavers! Any other alternative facts you think I may be interested in?

As others have said, most will check out a profile as a decider on whether to respond to a message. Would you respond to your own profile?
