Hi folks I'm looking for advice, I have on the profile that I'm a smoker, have not had a fag for 6 months. Should I keep my status as smoker or change to non smoker and explain in the profile that I vape

Up to you. I've kept myself as a smoker even thought I haven't smoked for three years. Some people object to vaping so its a heads up.

mildred gave up smokeing about 8mths now,

we have removed smokeing of our profile but added that she vapes,

she only uses the pen type not the big steam boiler things you see others hanging from that produce clouds of smoke

I won't meet smokers but I will meet the vapers, I would put yourself as a non smoker and just explain it in the profile as you said.

To be honest I've found it very easy and prefer to vape, plenty of choice of flavours and horrible smoke smell lol

I can't stand the smell of vaping fumes, we don't really know if they are harmful or not and it tastes disgusting in people's mouths. They are chemicals. I would rather meet a smoker. X

As there only the same flavours used in food manufacturing mixed with a VG/PG base also used in food manufacturing I would say there harmless

All that is in vape is pg/vg which natuaral cough medicine and distilled water then you added your flavour then a small amount of nicotine so totally harmless

But each to their own

Id leave your profile as smoker but put in it that you vape.

Maybe the powers that be could make this a thing in the profile set up. Make it easier.

Haha them are called mods ive been vaping years and they actually contain far less nicotine than the pen fluids im on 0.2 mg of nicotine but i can leave a room clouded with a big battery vaping at 50 watts.. i go outside when i want to chug on it lol

As long as your hair, skin, clothes and breath don't reek of smoke (and after six months I'd hope they wouldn't) then I'd put on that you are a non smoker. Maybe add a caveat to your profile telling people you vape.

Ok.... they aren't fumes, they are vapours.

You say 'we' don't know if they're harmful or not.... I hope that the we is not general and refers to you and maybe others who are as uninformed?!

They are chemicals.... yes like pretty much everything you consume, in fact everything that exists! Air is made up of chemicals, water is, your foot is !

Your preferences are your preferences .... though you have an odd view of things!

I stopped being a regular smoker around 2 years ago (ok I have had the odd slip up but not touched a proper cig for over a year) and now use an Electronic Cigarette and on Fab, I class myself as a non-smoker (Because I dont smoke, I vape).

I dont use the high power batteries which produce the massive clouds of vapour (which resembles smoke) and I only use mint or menthol liquids (hubby says kissing me after I have used it tastes same as just cleaning my teeth or using mouth wash). Im not going to be using the e-cig during a meet, and unless we have met someone socially or at a party, most people would not even know I used one.

Health wise, I certainly feel so much better for using the e-cig, and all the money I have saved as gone on shoes

Each to their own, and yes some people wont meet you because you vape, but if you are not using the tabbaco or strong fruit flavours, most people would never even know you used it.

Huge well done for quitting! I vape when I drink, I vape a nicotine free liquid and don't see it as smoking at all. As I drink once in a blue moon I don't see it as an issue that needs raising for the sake of fab meets.

As a chemist it really annoys me when people talk about all chemicals as if they are bad, the thing is though if we look at anything long enough then we can find risks and dangers associated with it - just look up a safety data sheet for water if you want an example!

That said, some things do bring us risks, and for me it's about weighing benefits against those. Nicotine itself is toxic, chemicals used in flavouring tend to include the likes of things that in a lab I'd be wearing full safety gear and heading to hospital if I smashed a neat bottle. Compared to the nastys in cigarettes though, for me they aren't even in the same ball park.

When I weighed up all the risks I still decided to vape, but then I've also decided to use home fragrances and washing up liquid, which present risks to me and to the environment. I think people should learn what they can and make their own calls on things, my knowledge is probably already out of date, but it was the best I had when I made my decision.
