I have just been reading some of the responses to a person who expressed anxiety about contracting an sti , and i wish to just say what a shower of charlatanic shite some of you post .This is my message to you ,IF YOU SMELLED SMOKE AND DISCOVERED YOUR NEIGHBOUR WAS ON FIRE ,WHAT WOULD YOU USE TO DOUSE THE FLAMES? WATER OR PETROL? Similarly ,if you know know nothing about an issue as important as sexual health YOU ARE IN NO POSITION TO OFFER ANYTHING BUT IGNORANCE. Rant over

It's ok as long as you only put it in for a few minutes though, surely?

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I fail to see why telling someone who's afraid he has a STI to go to a clinic to get tested is bad advice.

He was advised over and over to go to a GUM clinic and ignored the advice.

Well true, but you'd have to be desperate if you think that's good advice.

I got the feeling that the underlying problem was larger than the original post stated. More detail may have prevented so many flippant responses.

Advising the OP to attend a clinic and to reassure him was sensible and fair, though I think from reading his responses he has a much deeper rooted issue than worrying about contracting an STI. As I was reading the thread it did occur to me that there was an awful lot of conflicting advice about risks, symptoms, etc which just goes to show that some people are well informed and others less so which in itself is a little alarming among a community of people who indulge in sex with relative strangers. The bottom line is and always has been, we are each responsible for our own sexual health and cannot/should not rely on others to protect us.

There is obviously only one person on this entire site who knows anything about sexually transmitted diseases and about anxiety ...
