It's been over a year since I last did and I never replied last time.

Can I have some advice on how best to message oneself to improve the likelihood of getting a reply?

Make sure that you read your profile first. You might not be compatible.

Don't think it really matters what you put in your message, as we all know, recipients always look at the profile first, so you'll be wanting to have a good nose at your profile, before even thinking about opening your own message.

I was rejected by me last time. I'm over it now though as it was a year ago.

I think I can take rejection so much better than I used to. I only cry for weeks now.

I don't know that yet. I'm preparing myself for rejection but, at the moment at least, I'm optimistic.

As for accommodating; no worries there. I'm not into tgirls. I'm just after friendship. I could friend request myself too but we need to talk some first so we really can say we're friends before taking that step.
