Wherever the party is @

I was told today by a friend that Facebook is merging with whatsappp and that all your personal conversations will be published on Facebook. I don't know how true it is but if anyone is concerned about privacy issues then go into your whatsappp account and deselect the option to share.

Sounds like a load of bollocks. Whatsapp is owned by facebook but they wouldnt dare publish private conversations. Its a scare story

It's 100% true. The first thing they'll want to do is make all conversations public. It makes absolute sense .

Oh by the way - have a look at the Google duo app - Google also do a messenger app similar to whatsapp.

I explained all that to her but she was adamant that it was true lol..I deselected it anyway.

One question..why is there a share option in the account settings then?..which actually states that selecting will share information?

Supposedly so it will share your contacts with the Facebook app but I think the app steals phone contacts anyway. Allegedly so it can be 'more social' and you will find more friends on fb.

Don't give Fab people your Whatsapp or phone number if you want to keep your private life private.

It's probably for *advertising* or *third-party* reasons.

But as *ridiculous* as it sounds, I wouldn't put anything past Facebook. Or WhatsApp.

I no longer have a Facebook account for that very reason.

It's absolutely rubbish. All WhatsApp conversations are encrypted. Even WhatsApp owners cannot see what we send to each others. They will not share your contacts numbers either.

Facebook has brought snap chat but no invasion of privacy happened there.

The share button is to share the WhatsApp link to your friends etc so they can join WhatsApp even easier.

People just love scaremongering.

Sounds a lot like one of those "Facebook will begin to charge you £5 a day to access your account unless you change your name to Hugh G Rection, sign up to the Save The Unicorn Society, sell all of your earthly possessions to the person who lives three doors away and move to the moon, please copy and paste this to your wall" stories!

Whatsapp are/will be sharing your phone number with Facebook. So FB can suggest friends based on your Whatsapp number. But it is possible to opt out of this.... at the moment. FB and Whatsapp did say then they joined forces that they WON'T be sharing contact info between them, that didn't last long.

Type the words

Government

Prime minister

Bomb

And terrorist

In a sentence on your email and send it anywhere you like, preferably somewhere ending in gov.org and see how fast your private personal information goes public.

There is NOTHING you own in the cyber world that's private, it's accessible BY anyone TO anyone. Anytime, anywhere.

Don't believe me?

Take a chance and do it...see what happens.

Not true according to whatsapp. In the new terms that pop up now when you launch whatsapp, it says 'your chats and phone numbers WILL NOT be shared with FB'

I don't think people realise that if you use the same number for all your contacts and have given that number to Facebook with sync contacts enabled that guess what...Facebook will sync all your contacts.
