Can anyone recommend any icebreakers to help start conversations with people who's profile your interested in? I'm getting nowhere with "Hi there. How are you? "

That is not the most enticing opener.

Try to find something of interest or something in common in their profile.

Even then, I am afraid, you should be aware that people will almost always look at your profile before deciding whether to reply. If there is nothing there of interest to them, it will be a delete.

This is how alot of my early conversations used to go on fab:

Male - hi there how are you?

Me - yes great thanks. How are you?

Male - fancy a fuck/meet/empty my balls?

Me - no thanks.......and block and delete.

No conversation at all really. They don't know me, had nothing to say or chat about and lacked the ability to talk about anything other than sex. Now if someone tries this approach, unless they are mega hot, with a profile that conveys they can string a conversation together, they just get ignored. If you struggle chatting to women in everyday life then it will he exactly, if not worse, on here.

You just have to put a little bit of yourself into it, maybe leave somethings left unsaid so it encourages dialogue

I use the person's profile to ask questions or come up with witty banter. It works on other dating web sites where the goal is dating or making friends.

Sadly, on here, unless you look like the Greek gods of olde even the most well crafted first message will end up in the virtual bin without a second thought.

What? Bitter? Me? Never...

Delete! Auto delete in fact, I wouldn't even make it to your profile.

Honestly, a joke - short, sharp and related to my profile. That honestly gets me.

I've opened one of those 'Hi' ones, twice now because the profile pic was hawt. Stopped talking to both within a day because it didn't really go anywhere further.
