I really want to go to a Swinging Club. My closest is Chameleons in Newport. Problem is that I have horrendous social anxiety (for those who speak to me on here, I know, it's shocking. But it's easy to act confident behind a screen). I either end up talking too much because of nerves or sitting in the corner eating crisps. Lots of them. What would people's advice be towards this predicament?

Ipswich

No idea - I'm not a club-type person (tried 3 and never felt comfortable at any)

go on a day time when its quiet for a look around and do what you need to do to cope with it, with no intention at all to play..maybe after that try a themed night where you can be inconspicuous cos its busy, again just going because you are doing this for yourself...but i would do the quiet thing first to orientate yourself and make the surroundings familiar..i also have social anxiety..i have my ways of dealing with it, only occasionally does it get too much.. i feel for you, but dont whatever you do let it stop you from going..xxx

Lancashire

Why not ask someone you have met before tho go with you. You might not feel as anxious with someone else there too. At least then if you don't feel like socialising you have someone to talk to instead of eating crisps

That's where the other part comes in. When I'm nervous, I can also talk for Wales. It puts people off because of the chatter, trying to make sure no silences follow as the silence makes me feel even worse
