What do you talk about?

When you meet for the first time. What's your ice breaker? What do you say to them, or expect them to say to you?

I find it hard enough thinking of a message to mail on here, I'd be stumped to know what I would say if I met somebody. I know I could wing it, but does anybody have something that's easy to work with? The weather?

My friends and family know me. I know them. Chances are I start by asking for the money they owe me.

To make it clear, I'm asking about breaking the ice with a stranger.

I am sure you don't limit your conversations with your friends and family to just that. Strangers are human, too.

I usually start with, did they find the cafe alright. Daft question cos they have turned up ! Then chat about the traffic being a nightmare. What's on the menu and random other shit.

You could try complimenting them on what they are wearing or how they look lovely in their photos, but much nicer in person.

Just chat about whatever.....smile and relax.

Best thing is not to over think it .These things happen organically and take care of themselves . Best to go with the flow than going off a script . Stop over thinking it

I usually smile, touch their arm/leg lightly, kiss on cheek or lips, tell them a little about my day/journey/likes.....then ask them an easy question, eg-how has your day been? what kind of things do you like?...listen to their answer and get a conversation going....sex is usually mentioned within the first ten minutes and the conversation tends to return to that subject frequently...m x

From a conversational point of view we don't treat anybody from the swing scene any differently than we do people from vanilla life. Only slight difference is that the subject of sex will be more open and more frequent. But some people you get on with and some you don't. We would only meet people that we thought we could get on with.

Start off the same as anyone else, pay a compliments on how they look, find the location ok, what are you drinking, etc but the best way to get the ice to melt is to talk about experiences on Fab and clubs etc, as the swinging scene seems to give everyone such different experiences.

After Fab is the thing you have in common, so give the easiest conversation and then more general things flow easily after that.

We generally have no problem with conversation. I am a huge Seinfeld fan, and I can easily chat about the most mundane things just like those characters.

We usually talk about some of the experiences we have had, and that never fails to be interesting. We generally message back and forth a good before setting up a social meet. If you can't get a decent rhythm going when messaging, there's no point in going any further.

Again, my wife and I like to achieve a friendship with the intent of meeting the couple again. If we just did one-offs, I suppose conversation wouldn't matter at all.

What they do for work

Any holidays planned

Have they watched any of the footy/tennis

Favourite food

Have they seen any live bands this year

Have they seen the new (popular movie at that time)

Any pets

Main thing is be yourself. Maybe don't ask too many questions but relay your answer as in ' Oh the tennis is getting interesting now isn't it & Murrays doing well. Have you been watching any of it?'

Can't you tell I'm a chatterbox. But relax & be yourself & good luck x

We usually start by introducing ourselves after which if there is chemistry the conversation will flow. Depending on the location and who is near us will dictate how rude the conversation's can go. Our last social meet was in a busy pub with lots of people sat either side of us so the conversation was strictly vanilla but we talked about holidays, Wimbledon etc it was a good night without swinging being brought up once.
