I keep seeing profiles with amp on them. Wtf is amp. If you google it it's an Asian massage parlour. I'm presuming lots of men haven't got one of these so there must be another explanation

that puzzled me for ages...its some glitch, its where someone has written 'and' using the symbol, which is short for ampersand...appears as 'amp'..i thought it was some odd requiremnt for something so exotic id never heard of it!

I'm so glad you asked this! I kind of thought it was something to do with electricity! Maybe it's for people who have sparky, electric personalities?

Ampersand is the name of the "&" logo. Presumably "amp" is an abbreviation.

It happens when things are copy and pasted. Some sites don't read the text properly from other sites. So if seen you know someone is being a bit lazy....

That's what i was told anyway. Could be bullshit.

& amp ; is the web code symbol for an ampersand .for boring technical reasons - it isn't always correctly tendered to the ampersand symbol. Hence amp....

"For once, it's an acronym I haven't seen before And as such I haven't the foggiest what it means.."

No it isn't. Its HMTL code used by browsers & means '&' and £ means '£'. It should not be visible on the page really but can be caused by coding errors and pasting into them. Nothing to worry about.
