Why is it that some people reply in such a vague way to direct questions? for example :- do you want to play? Surely we are all adult enough to just say yes or no, has fabswingers become awash with dreamers, time wasters and fantasists?

To the question "Do you want to play?" there's not much of an answer. I want to play, depends who with and when. With a couple depends what their expectations are and what boundaries etc.

To respond properly, I do agree that people should say yes or no. It grinds my gears when some guy badgers me for a meet but never ever nails one down. however I don't think they are the norm. I have had enough meets to know there are plenty of people out there willing to say yes.

See, because of my overwhelming pedantism, my answer would be yes, I do want to play but not necessarily with you.

if someone wants to meet you they will..

We realise that a vague answer means a no, but the question remains why be vague? We use our stock reply....

"Thanks, but not for us, happy swinging" it's pretty easy!

I've literally given that reply to someone before and got several people telling me off for being rude to the poor bloke. You just can't win

People are vague when they mean no because they don't know how to say no without seeming mean or rude. I think it's an attempt not to hurt others' feelings.

I personally agree that a straight up no would be better, but I can understand why that often doesn't seem like the kindest way. If we just took the vagueness to mean no then I think it would be just as simple (kind of like taking no answer to a pm as a no).

Oh, that really annoys me!

If it's got to the point that I'm swapping messages with them, then I'm pretty much ready to meet - quite available if they want me...

So I ask what they like to do, what they really want, so that I can be sure we're looking for the same things..

And the vague answers start - or else they very obviously try to say the things that they think I want to hear... and I just go cold, turn off like somebody has slammed my brakes on hard!

Why can't people just be honest and direct? Let's find out if we both want the same thing?

Sorry - I've just had one of those messages a moment ago, and I'm in a right proper moody...!!!
