If you were 15 and she was worried about you yes, but she needs to respect your privacy!

Tell her you pay rent and to keep her nose out and maybe lock your toys away or put a lock on the door?

"We are going to take the contrary view. The house owner own the house, they can do and go where they like, no secrets in that house from the house owner. Anyone who does not like it can get their own home.... if any part of *our* home were held secret from us it would not be our home any longer. We can appreciate your desire for privacy, that is why we have our own home and do not live in anyone else's. "Home" here is defined as a living space in which you control the front door key and anything and everything that passes though it and happens behind it. " All well and good, unless you're charging rent and utilities to a tenant, as in this case. If a tenant rents a room, they have a right to privacy.

" sorry but that is tosh. anyone deserves the right to privacy regardless of whether they own the place they live in or not. it is a basic human right. not sure if the OP pays rent or keep but if she does then that is even more reason why the mum has no right to go through her room.

" sorry but that is tosh. anyone deserves the right to privacy regardless of whether they own the place they live in or not. it is a basic human right. " How does the saying go, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. We obviously have different opinions... and we are all entitled to them. However, we are not entitled to our own facts. The facts are that there is an Article 8 right to privacy, but it (reading between the lines) does not apply to the OP, because she is not a tenant, she is a family member bunging some cash at the actual home owner / named tenant / mum etc in a strictly informal way, to be specific, minus a shorthold tenancy agreement on paper with signatures etc The actual home owners / named tenant / etc's right to go *anywhere* in their own home at any time will trump any imagined "right" to privacy. The OP is simply in a similar situation to two students sharing a house where one of them always uses the last of the milk and toilet roll and electric meter credit, there is no solution but one of them moves out.

"You have no lock on your bedroom door? So she could just walk in whenever she wanted without your permission yet shes asking before she does?" I think it's highly likely that she already has, and does, repeatedly. If I was in that situation, I'd have already moved out.

"When we cleared some of our daughters things when we moved we found "stuff"...her business. Unless a parent suspects something harmful of illegal they should stay out." Never crossed my mind to invade my children's privacy. However, if they ever dreamed of telling me to stay out of a room in MY house they were living in for free, the fallout (for them) wouldn't have been pretty!

"My mums wants to go in and look inside my bedroom is this nomarl i dont really want her to look through my room how do i stop her im a grown women iv got condoms, all kinds of sex toys and naughty clothes x" This comment made me laugh .... why would you assume your mum would be shocked? That's a typical thing for a child to say about a parent, more likely you'd be surprised at what she would find. I think children often forget their parents have sex lives and years of experience too ...

Beats me how some parents ever expect their children to behave like adults when they don't treat them as such.

"Tell her to piss right off and keep her nosey beak out of what doesn't concern her - simple, job done ! ...do people actually allow their adult children to talk to them like that in their own homes?!! " I think the word adult hits the nail on the head here. The OP is an adult and her privacy should be respected, regardless of who owns the house or is the tenant. If I had guests I wouldn't walk into their room and go through their personal items,I certainly wouldn't do it to one of my adult children.

"I don't even go into my teenage son's room. It's his space and I respect his right to privacy. " As it happens, I never went into my teenage sons room either, it was mostly tidy enough. My teenage daughter however we argued constantly as her room stank the house out, and I had to do raids every now and then to recover crockery and cutlery when the kitchen was empty... I was glad when she moved out to be honest, love her to bits but she was an awful teenager.

"My mum let herself in to my house when I was at work. She decided to clean house which was very sweet. She found lube under my bed. Condom packet on table which I found in a party bag and gave my son the cock sweets I had been given for my birthday. I quickly took them off him and threw them out lol. Suffice to say my house is now well checked before she arrives now. " How old is your son?

" Indeed, adults should be living in their own homes, paying their own bills not living with their parents: can't have it both ways. I respected my children's privacy and they knew better than trying to lay down any kind of rules/demands in my house they were living in for free whilst working.

" You live in her house, so technically it is her room....!" That's my point. Whilst I respect my children's privacy, and wouldn't dream of snooping around "their" room, it's a room I allow them to live in for free, so the thought of them telling me to piss off in a house I've worked to pay for...they're not duppy conquerors!
