Ok here goes, I try to be nice and polite to everyone including when I'm not interested in them, a polite thanks but no thanks happy swinging etc, I've just turned down a sub male as I'm not interested, so why send a nasty name calling message back?

I don't see the point in it,

So is there a more polite way of saying thanks very much but I'm not interested?

I have on my profile that I don't respond to messages from people I'm not interested in.

Its not down to you to change your approach because they're rude. We rarely have an abusive response to a refusal but if we do we block without a second thought, we also have on our profile that no reply means a polite no thank you.

Brighton - even Hove!

Say nothing and just block. Time is too valuable to bother with people you don't know, don't want to meet and never will.

we just ignore people who message us who aren't our cup of tea, people who send us friend invites without a message just get a blocked as well.

Not had any nasty replies yet. Fingers crossed.

Only MF couples and single ladies can message me. Makes it more manageable. I still delete messages from couples and women if I'm not interested and don't usually get any problems.

I've blocked single men from messaging me.

I only message those I'm interested in then forget it after.

No point wasting time and energy on the little things. Otherwise you don't have any fun at all x

you could reply and say no thanks so they know you aren't interested....then block them, as this sort of response occurs all too often

You can always say thanks but no thanks and then block. I never understand why people are reluctant to block. It is not rude. It is a site tool and very useful.

Think of that as a lucky escape OP. We have had this a few times of late. That's why sometimes, the old, delete without replying is easier as harsh as that sounds. It doesn't open up the avenue for further conversation/abuse. Report & block.
