Admin will usually change a F profile into a MF profile - ask them from the Contact button at the bottom of the page. Changing a F profile into a MF profile is usually more problematic, and men get advised to make a new MF profile.

I think it's something to do with verifications. A verified F profile, if changed to a verified MF profile, still has the verification that there is a female. A verified M profile has no verification of a female, so needs a new unverified MF profile, until the new couple get verified as a couple. At least, this is how it worked for some friends of mine - her profile was changed to a MF profile, but the admins wouldn't change his profile to MF. I guess the admins must have had problems in the past with men hoping to boost their success rate by claiming a new partner, who didn't actually exist.

I'm one of those (apparently rare) honest guys who had his profile changed from a MF couple to single male status, when we split up. I did have to write the admins to make the change. And went thru the usual "are you sure you want to do this?" Questions. I was also told they can/will only make the change 3 times on any given profile.

I think he is refering t your typo, you put changing a F in MF twice
