What a charmer!

So a guy I've previously met for a social months ago invited me around to his place last night. We were in the living room when there's a knock at the door, he totally freaks out and turns out the lights/tv to pretend that nobody is home - he's heavy breathing and shaking! The knocker persists and so he begs me to go and stand outside the back patio windows (in the rain) (BAREFOOT as my boots are in the hallway near the front door). His place backs onto a river so unless I fancied swimming there was absolutely nowhere for me to go! 5 minutes later he chucks my boots out the back door and after another LONG five minutes he lets me in then gets me to wait until we hear the car drive off! As we stood there in total silence he said, "I don't have a partner if that's what you're thinking".

Well this is where he really outdid himself. After saying that he didn't have a partner and I just raised my eyebrows and stayed silent, he obviously felt the need to explain further..."I didn't want anyone to see you here because...well...you're older aren't you" I'M 29!!!

I'd have refused, there's no way i would stand outside like that. If he can't be honest in then1st place, why should you have to be humiliated?

I had a guy once ask me to leave his house via the window so his neighbour wouldn't see me. I told him where to go.

Sounds like it may not be his house - parents perhaps? X

I had someone once take a phone call part way through a date and panic madly - his story that it was an ex who phoned to say one of his children had had an minor accident would have been more believable as completely true if he hadn't spent the ten minutes it took us to leave madly removing any trace of us ever being there from the apartment! X

I'm struggling to think of any GOOD reason why he should have done this. To my mind, if he's ashamed of you/meeting you, then you don't owe him the courtesy of being discreet in front of his visitor. I'd like to think that, in the same circumstances, I would have walked back in after 5 mins, collected my boots and left.
