Call me cynical, but threads with this storyline come up a lot, and they almost always have an ulterior motive

And the motive is usually one of the following:

1. It provides an opportunity for self congratulatory posts from people who're basically saying "Hey, look at me, I only play safe, ain't I the best"

Meh, other peoples' choices about their sexual health is their business. I make it clear when arranging meets that I only play safe, if the other person/people have an issue with that we discuss it then beforehand. Communication is a great thing lol, as are condoms, dental dams, latex gloves, corsadil and a damn good shower

Since you asked-

To help prevent coronavirus infection, do the same things you do to avoid the common cold:

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, keep your hands and fingers away from your eyes, nose, and mouth and avoid close contact with people who are infected.

Best defence against influenza is to receive an annual vaccination.

Rubella (German measles) spreads when people breathe in virus-infected fluid, such as the droplets sprayed into the air when a person with rubella sneezes or coughs, or share food or drink with someone who's infected.

Best defence against rubella is vaccination.

And do those who insist in wearing condoms protect against these more serious infections properly? I don't think so.

Why? Because there is a stigma attached to STIs that is not to these more serious infections.

People wear "I had flu" like a badge of honour whereas they will hardly tell their best friend they had chlamydia. Let us judge disease by its effects and not by how you got it.
